Chapter 1208:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
The two of them left at once and headed to the hospital to make arrangements for Patsy’s transfer overseas.
It was there that Kristine unexpectedly crossed paths with Rita.
Back then, Rita was nothing more than a young maid who looked after Patsy. Yet from the very first moment she saw Kristine, an inexplicable hostility rose within her. She couldn’t explain it. Something deep inside her simply rejected Kristine’s presence.
While Colton stood nearby discussing treatment plans with the overseas doctors, Rita seized the chance to approach Kristine. “Ms. Green, may I ask you something? What do you think of the way Mr. Yates treats his sister?”
The question had barely left her lips when an icy voice suddenly came from behind them.
“You’re fired. Leave right now.”
Rita spun toward the voice, and the color drained from her face the moment her eyes landed on Colton.
She had deliberately picked a moment when he wasn’t around, hoping to turn Kristine against him. Yet somehow, it felt as though Colton had seen through her intentions from the very beginning.

“What are you talking about, Mr. Yates? Why would you fire me? What have I done?” Rita asked, putting on an innocent look.
“Stop pretending. You know exactly why.” Colton stared at her without blinking.
Deep inside, a powerful conviction took hold. This was no illusion. He had truly gone back to his university days. Fate had given him another chance.
Whether Rita had already done something or not made no difference. He would not let anyone come between him and Kristine. Any threat would be removed long before it had the chance to grow.
Rita, meanwhile, was genuinely baffled. All she had done was exchange a few words. Yes, she had her own agenda, but she hadn’t even begun to carry out the cruelest parts of it. So how had Colton figured out her intentions so quickly?
“I’ve taken care of Patsy for years. If I leave, she’ll be devastated,” she pleaded, her voice trembling.
“That’s none of your concern. Pack your things and go.” Colton’s reply was cold enough to freeze the air.
Nearby, Kristine watched the exchange with growing confusion. She was about to speak up, but Colton cut in before she could say a word.
“If you won’t leave on your own, I’ll have someone escort you out,” he continued.
Rita bit down on her lower lip, struggling to contain the rage burning inside her. It was obvious Colton meant every word. Before leaving, she shot Kristine a venomous look.
Only after the door closed behind her did Colton let out a long breath and relax a little.
“Was that really necessary? She was only talking to me,” Kristine said, confusion clear in her voice.
Colton shook his head. “It’s not about today. She’s been neglecting her duties for a long time. Patsy’s condition keeps getting worse, and if she’s going overseas for treatment, she needs someone reliable with her.”
“Is that so?” Kristine still sensed something was off, but she chose not to press the matter.
