Chapter 1155:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
By the time evening rolled around, something clicked in Freya’s mind. If she controlled the drone herself to drop the ring during the proposal, it would feel off—neither cool nor romantic.
She needed someone working behind the scenes, someone who could release the ring at just the right moment. Now that would be romantic.
She quietly slipped out of Ellis’s arms and grabbed her phone, ready to message Alan.
Greta and Riley were buried in work. Ethel could operate a drone, sure—but she was so wrapped up in her drama binge that she’d be unreliable.
Alan was the best bet. He had free time, and this could double as rehearsal for his own future proposal.
As she got up, Ellis paused the movie and looked over. “Everything alright?”
“Bathroom,” Freya said casually, phone in hand as she walked off. That one little move immediately set off alarm bells for Ellis.
He knew how rarely she touched her phone—unless she got a call or a text, she barely even looked at it.
But lately, she had it with her constantly—even when heading to the bathroom. That wasn’t her style at all. She was clearly hiding something.
Freya had no idea she’d triggered his suspicion. She ducked into the bathroom and sent a message to Alan. When he didn’t reply, she called him without hesitation.
Alan picked up immediately. “I need your help!”
Freya blinked. “What happened?”
Alan fired over his location. “If you don’t come now, I’ll die!”
Confused, Freya pressed him for details—but then he fell completely silent, like he’d never said anything at all.
She didn’t really think he was in danger—but she decided to check just in case. Alan had always looked out for her, after all.
She slipped her phone into her pocket, opened the bathroom door—and nearly collided with Ellis, leaning casually in the hallway.
She said, momentarily caught off guard, “Do you need the bathroom?”

“Nope. I was just waiting on you.”
“Waiting on me? Why?” She blinked, genuinely puzzled.
His eyes swept down to her phone, and he spoke with a lazy drawl, tinged with amusement. “So, how was it?”
“What?” Freya blinked again.
“You brought your phone into the bathroom.”
Freya froze in place, completely thrown. Total rookie move. She’d forgotten how absurdly sharp he was—he could sniff out the slightest irregularity without even trying.
“Wasn’t using it.” Freya recovered quickly, her tone light and casual. “I just brought it in case there wasn’t any toilet paper—so I could text you for backup.”
“Oh really?” Ellis’s lips quirked up in a smug smile, his voice laced with teasing.
Freya knew that tone all too well. “You don’t believe me?”
