Chapter 356:

“Okay, but you owe me a favor,” Milford replied.
“Deal,” Bryan stated firmly.
Eileen had been engulfed in her workload at the Freguson Group since Bryan was discharged from the hospital. At last, she wrapped up her continuous overtime. On her cherished day off, Eileen enjoyed the company of Milford, Ruby, and Gabriela at home.
During a quiet moment, Eileen spoke to Ruby about Bryan. “He wants to visit you to discuss why we didn’t marry earlier.”
“I’m available to see him anytime,” Ruby responded immediately. “But hadn’t you mentioned you would talk to him about Gabriela after he got out of the hospital?”
It had been more than ten days, and yet Eileen had not broached the subject with Bryan.
“I’ve been buried in work lately. I’m worried that if I tell him now, I won’t have the time to properly explain everything. Misunderstandings could arise.”
In truth, the past ten days had been a pretext for finishing her assignments with the Freguson Group.
She was apprehensive that disclosing the truth would provoke a reaction from Bryan that she might not be equipped to manage without being physically present.
Now, however, she felt ready.
“That’s sensible. Now that work isn’t as demanding, invite him over. He shouldn’t have to make a special trip just for you,” Ruby commented, gently touching Eileen’s hand. “The choice is ultimately yours.”
“Really?” Bailee chimed in before Eileen could reply.

Bailee had just descended the stairs, having been preoccupied with tasks for several days.
Both Eileen and Ruby looked up at her direction.
“Of course. What matters most are your own choices,” Ruby assured her with a warm smile. As she was about to continue, she noticed Bailee produce a document from behind her.
It was a marriage certificate.
Flipping to the first page, they found that Bailee had married Huey.
“Mom, I married Huey. Everything happened so swiftly. I didn’t have a chance to inform you beforehand. But since you’ve said these decisions are ours, you won’t be upset, right?” Bailee asked somewhat cautiously.
Despite the joyous news, Bailee was wary. Her marriage was a significant event, and although Ruby had reservations about Huey, Bailee had proceeded with the marriage without Ruby’s knowledge. The marriage certificate, meant to symbolize joy, now cast a shadow across Ruby’s face.
