Chapter 365:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“I don’t have any family left. I was abandoned and then adopted purely by chance. Back then, I had a grandpa who was over 80 years old. A few years ago, he passed away. My greatest dream was to earn enough money to build beautiful tombs for my parents and grandpa.”
Her parents had died in a tragic accident. They were so poor that they couldn’t afford a proper coffin. Her grandpa had used wooden planks to block the soil and buy a simple coffin for her parents.
When Julio found out about this, he stepped in and arranged for proper coffins for her parents, giving them a respectful burial. Despite his generosity, Dalores had been too shy to ask for more at the time, so their final resting place remained the simplest graves.
In her hometown, it was customary for a couple to be laid to rest together, and their grave had to be renovated.
“How much will it cost?” Eileen asked, aware that local customs varied. She decided not to pry further.
“It’s not too expensive. The total expenses usually come to around ten to twenty thousand,” Dalores replied with a modest smile, a hint of embarrassment in her voice. “But, you see, I just graduated from college. My first few jobs barely covered my living expenses. It’s only through this job that I’m managing to save a little.”
After a brief silence, the car came to a stop outside a restaurant. Instead of immediately exiting, Eileen retrieved the black card Julio had given her and handed it to Dalores. “The amount on this card should be enough.”
Dalores shook her head, a hint of disbelief in her eyes. “I can’t take this. How could I possibly accept your money?”
“This isn’t my money,” Eileen replied, turning slightly to face her.

Dalores looked taken aback for a moment before comprehension slowly dawned on her. She smiled softly but continued to hold her ground. “I don’t want his money either. If he’s trying to thank me for what happened at the hotel last time, it’s really not necessary. I don’t care about that. It wasn’t the first time something like this happened. I simply helped him out.”
Her words weighed heavily on Eileen’s heart. However, she knew she had to ensure there was no room for misunderstanding or false hope. Otherwise, a girl as naive as Dalores would never have been able to move on if she had fallen in love with Julio. “He asked you to leave.”
Dalores’ smile vanished in an instant, and her face turned pale. She stared at the black card Eileen had handed her, unmoving.
“This isn’t how he shows his care for you. Julio is someone who values profit more than love. He asked you to leave because he feared you might cause trouble for him and jeopardize his marriage to Miss Harrison. I should have told you this earlier, but I couldn’t find the right moment.”
