Chapter 410:

“Save your breath. I’m not going anywhere with you,” Milford said defiantly as he came down the stairs. The anger in his eyes had dimmed, but his tone remained firm. “I’m fine here. Eileen’s been good to me. She’s covering my tuition and expenses, and I’ll repay her someday. You have no part in this, so I don’t need you meddling in my life. Now, get out, and don’t ever come back looking for me again.”
He pointed to the door with a decisive motion. “Are you leaving on your own, or should I drag you out?”
Zola lingered a moment, then spat, “If you refuse, I’ll take legal action. I’ll sue Eileen for damaging our sibling relationship.”
Eileen remained unshaken. “You won’t win. I’m not imprisoning him or abusing him. Milford’s here because he wants to be.”
“Even if I don’t win, I’ll appeal and sue you again and again. Do you really have the stamina for this? I doubt you can keep it up.” Zola’s voice was filled with determination, ready for a prolonged battle. She believed Eileen wouldn’t want to waste time on someone who had nothing to do with her.
Snatching her purse from the couch, she stormed out, her parting words lingering like a bad smell.
As the door slammed shut, Milford collapsed onto the couch, a deep frown etched on his face.
“I’m going to check on Gabriela,” Eileen said softly, glancing back at him. “Don’t worry about Zola. She won’t win, and no lawyer will take her case after two failed lawsuits.”
“Hmm,” Milford muttered, burying his face in his hands. He felt he’d caused Eileen enough trouble, most of it thanks to his sister.

Upstairs, Gabriela had stopped crying. Her eyes were still red and puffy, showing the evidence of her distress. Bryan looked heartbroken seeing her in that state.
When Gabriela saw Eileen, she pouted sadly, her little hands waving in the air as she made soft sounds.
“What did Zola want this time?” Bryan asked, his face dark with disdain for Zola.
Eileen kissed Gabriela’s tiny fingers and sighed. “She wanted to take Milford away.”
Every encounter between the siblings ended in conflict, and the little girl must have been stressed witnessing their argument. Bryan gently caressed Gabriela’s cheek, his usually stern face softening.
With her parents by her side, Gabriela’s spirits lifted quickly. It wasn’t long before Ruby burst in with a bundle of new clothes, making Gabriela giggle with excitement.
Milford entered his room but didn’t come out again.
After lunch, a sudden commotion erupted at the Freguson Group. Eileen had to rush to the company, unaware that Julio was also on his way.
When the emergency arose, the staff member first notified Julio and then Eileen. They both arrived at the company almost simultaneously and met in the elevator.
“Where’ve you been?” Julio asked, holding the elevator door open for Eileen.
Eileen stepped inside. “I was at the hospital this morning. I wrapped up all my tasks yesterday, so I didn’t expect an emergency.”
