Chapter 452:

Ruby agreed enthusiastically. “Yes, it’s been a while since she’s been home.”
“And what’s the latest with her and Winona?” Eileen had been so busy that she had only exchanged brief messages with Bailee about work since Bailee moved out. Both of them had been swamped, leaving little time for a proper conversation.
Ruby sighed and set her phone down. “I haven’t asked. She’s always so busy, and even when she’s home for dinners, Huey is around, making it awkward to ask.”
“She knows what she’s doing. Maybe they’ve already confessed to Winona.”
Their conversation was suddenly interrupted by the doorbell.
Eileen handed Gabriela over to Ruby and went to answer the door.
To her surprise, it was Winona.
After a brief moment of shock, Eileen warmly welcomed her inside. “Mrs. Baker, please come in.”
“Hello, Miss Curtis,” Winona greeted her politely, acknowledging Eileen’s superior status.
The villa Eileen now resided in was larger than the Baker family’s home, and their social status had also surpassed the Bakers’ family. Yet, Winona wasn’t one to judge potential daughters-in-law by their family’s wealth, but rather by their character. This was why she had originally been fond of Eileen, despite her modest background.
“Mrs. Baker, what brings you by?” Upon hearing it was Winona, Ruby promptly stood to greet her, holding Gabriela.
Winona was taken aback to see Gabriela in Ruby’s arms.
“This is my daughter,” Eileen introduced.

“You have a child?” Winona quickly understood, considering Eileen’s age. Huey, who was several years younger than Eileen and still single, was a significant concern for Winona.
After inviting Winona into the villa, Eileen settled Gabriela into a playpen and herself onto the carpet to play with her, all the while listening in on the conversation between Winona and Ruby.
“We’ve known each other for years. You understand me, so I won’t beat around the bush,” Winona said, getting straight to the point.
“‘I’m here to talk about Huey and Bailee.”
Ruby nodded with a warm smile. “Yes, we need to sort out the situation with the young ones.”
“The thing is, Huey actually has a childhood fiancée. Years ago, when his fiancée’s family moved abroad, I thought about ending the engagement and tried pairing him with Eileen, but it wasn’t meant to be.”
With a glance at Eileen, who was now focused on her child, Winona added, “Last year, that family returned and revived the engagement. It’s not that I’m against Huey and Bailee; it’s just that our two families have been intertwined for decades. It’s hard to dismiss such an engagement.”
