Chapter 390:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Layla took full command, her presence flooding every inch of me. She was a storm — wild and merciless — and together we unleashed everything we had.
We fought for what felt like an eternity, the room churning with movement, growls, and the sharp metallic scent of blood. Gradually, his attacks slowed. His breathing became labored, his body trembling beneath the weight of his wounds.
“This isn’t over,” he rasped, blood running from his lips.
But it was. With one final, savage growl, Layla surged forward and tore into him for the last time. The man crumpled to the floor, his chest heaving in shallow, failing breaths as death closed in.
I stood over him, panting, my body trembling with exhaustion. Layla drew back, her voice quiet but certain. “It’s done.”
My uncle’s lifeless body lay in a widening pool of blood, his wide-brimmed hat crushed beneath him. For a long moment, I felt nothing but relief. The danger was gone.
Then the adrenaline faded, and the full weight of the fight crashed over me. My knees buckled, and the room began to tilt.
Layla’s voice came through faint and fading, her own strength nearly spent. “Rest now, Jasmine. You’ve earned it.”

I thought of Ryder, of Kade, of the baby growing inside me. I had fought for them — for all of us — and I had won.
Did I really just do that? Just me?
“Layla, we are incredible,” I murmured weakly, a fragile warmth breaking through the exhaustion as I thought of everything she had been through at my side. “Thank you for being my wolf. For being a part of me.”
A sudden clarity cut through the haze, sharp and brief — and then my head pulsed with pain. I pressed my hand gently against my belly. I could still feel it — the faintest flutter of life, steady and stubborn. My baby was still there.
I couldn’t love my little one any less for having endured all of this with me. For holding on. For being just as fierce as I was.
As the darkness crept in at the edges, the last thought that passed through my mind was: They are safe.
And then, at last, I closed my eyes and let go.
Jasmine’s Point of View:
I woke to a blur of murmurs, the voices muffled and distant, as though they were reaching me from somewhere deep underwater. My entire body felt heavy, as if I were wading through a fog I couldn’t break free of. Slowly, the world around me began to sharpen. The haze lifted, and after several long blinks, the faces surrounding me came into focus.
“She’s awake! She’s awake!”
