Chapter 739:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
I turned and walked out, swallowing the name that had almost slipped from my mouth.
Soon, the day finally came for me to officially leave the Voss Group. Not wanting to deal with uncomfortable farewells or Damien’s lingering attention, I got up much earlier than usual.
At six o’clock that morning, the city was still wrapped in a blanket of mist as I took a taxi to the office and headed to Human Resources.
The HR representative looked as though she had only just woken up. While processing my resignation, she gave me a regretful look. “Ms. Riley, please complete this exit survey. Honestly, in the five years I’ve worked here, I’ve never seen someone leave the Voss Group right as their career was taking off. Was it the salary, or…”
“It just isn’t the right place for me,” I answered vaguely, my hand trembling slightly as I picked up the pen.

I knew better than anyone that the Voss Group offered outstanding pay, unmatched resources, and incredible opportunities. It was the dream workplace every designer hoped to join.
If not for the trial hanging over me, threatening to destroy everything, I would never have made the decision to leave.
Everything I had achieved here — from my rapid promotion to the respect I’d earned from proud, seasoned designers — had been possible because of Ethan. He had done far more than offer me a job. He had given me the full support and protection of the entire Thorn Pack.
After completing the survey, my gaze settled on the last section: Suggestions for the Company.
The box was wide enough to hold every regret, every complaint, every feeling I had buried inside. But as I stared at the blank space, memories flooded back — Ethan deleting me from his contacts, Ethan selling the home we once shared.
In the end, every emotion I felt distilled into one simple wish.
I lowered my pen and carefully wrote: I wish Alpha Ethan a lifetime of happiness.
That was the only kindness I could still offer him.
Lianne’s POV
The moment I walked out of the Voss Group building, the cool morning breeze slipped into my collar, making me shiver.
I looked back at the towering skyscraper, my heart filled with a whirlwind of emotions. It felt like I had finally set down a burden that had weighed on me for so long. But the relief was quickly replaced by a heaviness that felt suffocating.
It was as if I had severed the last connection between Ethan and me, ensuring our lives would never intersect again.
My phone vibrated inside my bag. It was Tracy calling.
“Lianne, are you free today? Can you come with me to my prenatal checkup?” Her voice sounded aggrieved. “Jeremy and I had an argument. I don’t want him coming with me.”
I didn’t ask what had happened. Pregnancy often made emotions run high, so I simply agreed.
The moment she heard that I had officially resigned and that the trial would soon start, her mood immediately lifted.
