Chapter 934:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
As the car disappeared from view, a strange uneasiness settled over me.
Lately, everything about Ethan felt unusual.
He was the one who firmly suggested ending our relationship, but he kept showing up in my life again and again. He was supposed to be with Melisa, but whenever I asked, he repeatedly denied having anything to do with her.
It was obvious he was carrying some kind of secret burden, but whenever I tried to get to the heart of it, he immediately shut down.
I closed the door behind me, rested my back against it, and slowly shut my eyes as I drew in a deep breath.

Ethan’s POV:
When I got inside the car, I leaned against the window and closed my eyes to rest.
It wasn’t until we had passed the corner that I finally spoke. “Noah, if I lose consciousness again, don’t tell Lianne. No matter what happens.”
Noah met my gaze through the rearview mirror. “But you need her, Alpha.”
“I don’t!” I interrupted him firmly. “Lianne is easily frightened. If she keeps seeing me break down, she’ll only become more worried about me. Everything I’ve done has been to keep her out of danger. She can’t find out anything unusual. If she does, everything I’ve worked for will be ruined.”
Noah was quiet for a moment, then asked, “But what about your health?”
“This condition is part of my plan.” I opened my eyes and watched the streetlights blur past the window. My voice stayed calm and steady. “Even if protecting her means putting my health at risk, I won’t let anyone hurt Lianne. I know exactly what I’m dealing with, and I’ll find a way to stay alive for her.”
Noah didn’t respond.
I continued, “While Lianne finishes her project, reduce the number of times we meet. The same goes for Melisa. There’s no need for me to see her either. Just let her get close enough to keep her from becoming suspicious. I need to make everything look normal so the plan can proceed without any problems.”
“Understood, Alpha.”
Lianne’s POV:
I lay awake in bed, turning from one side to the other, unable to fall asleep.
My thoughts kept circling back to that wild kiss from Ethan.
His bloodshot eyes, the tiny smear of blood on his lips, and the overwhelming emotions in his eyes as he held me against the wall all remained vivid. No matter how hard I tried to push the memory away, it kept playing in my mind.
I squeezed my eyes shut, desperately trying to push the thoughts out of my mind. But the more I fought them, the clearer every detail became.
It was nearly dawn when I finally fell asleep for a short while. Not long after, my phone suddenly rang. Still half-asleep, I reached for it and saw Tracy’s name on the screen. I answered, and her rushed voice immediately came through. “Lianne, are you awake? I’m outside your door.”
I paused, then quickly got out of bed and went to open the door.
