Chapter 955:

“I know you weren’t trying to hurt him.” I gave her a gentle look. “But you should try to see things from his perspective. Some injuries may seem healed, but they can still hurt the moment someone touches them. You’re naturally carefree, so it may be difficult for you to understand why this matters so much to him. However, you should make an effort to be more mindful of his feelings.”
Tracy fell silent for a moment, then let out a soft sigh. “Fine, you’re right. I’ll apologize to him as soon as I get home.”
“That’s better.”
She nodded, but when her gaze drifted toward my computer, something immediately caught her attention. She leaned closer to the screen, then turned to me. Her eyes suddenly lit up as she said, “Lianne, what are you looking at? Apartment listings? Are you planning to move?”
“No, I’m not moving.” I smiled. “I want to open a jewelry studio, so I’m looking for a place that would work.”
“Seriously?” Tracy straightened at once. The sadness on her face immediately disappeared. “You’re really opening a studio? Oh my gosh, you’ve finally come around! I’ve been telling you for ages that you should return to jewelry design. You’re incredibly talented. It would be such a shame to let that talent go to waste!”
I found her dramatic excitement amusing. “It’s only an idea right now. I’m still working out the details.”
“I don’t care!” She caught my arm and shook it enthusiastically. “Are you hiring? I want to be your secretary. I don’t even need a paycheck. Just make sure you feed me!”
I burst out laughing. “You? A pampered princess, working as my secretary? Jeremy would probably come after me.”
“He wouldn’t dare!” she protested with a little huff, then broke into soft giggles. “Besides, I don’t care what he says. I’m coming with you anyway. You’re stuck with me.”

Looking at her bright, energetic countenance, I felt a faint sense of envy.
Tracy had always been able to live exactly as she pleased. She was adored by her family, free to laugh whenever she wanted and throw a fit when she was unhappy. She never needed to worry about saying or doing the wrong thing around anyone.
But after I thought about it for a moment, my face broke into a warm smile. Now, I had Ethan, a man who cherished me and loved me with every fiber of his being.
Tracy immediately noticed the smile forming on my lips. Her eyes filled with curiosity as she moved closer. “Hold on. Why are you smiling like that? That’s such a sweet smile. Did you and Ethan make up?”
I paused briefly, then gave her a small nod.
“Really?” Her eyes widened. “When did that happen? And why didn’t you tell me? Come on, tell me everything. What happened?”
I gave her a brief account of what had happened, including how Ethan had gone to Melisa because of me, how he had put up with her constant attempts to cling to him, and how much he had done to obtain the antidote she possessed.
I explained that Ethan had never been unfaithful to me. Everything he had done had been meant to keep me safe.
