Chapter 595:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Tessa’s chest swelled with warmth, but her father wasn’t letting the moment distract him. “So, if it’s not Henry, what’s the main announcement?”
A nervous flutter twisted in her stomach. Here we go.
She dragged in a breath and finally let it out.
“I’m pregnant.”
For a moment, nothing happened. There was complete silence.

Every pair of eyes at the table widened. Even Alex, who had been leaning back in his chair casually, sat up straighter. Her father looked completely stunned.
The only ones not shocked were Maya and Jace, since they already knew.
Just as Tessa was about to ask if everyone was okay, her mother and aunt suddenly shot up from their seats and rushed toward her.
“Oh my God, congratulations!” Her mother beamed, pulling her up into a tight hug.
Her aunt clapped excitedly. “This is amazing news, Tessa!”
The moment her mother pulled back, she cupped Tessa’s face, eyes glistening with happy tears. “How far along are you, darling?”
Tessa smiled. “Two months.”
Her mother and aunt squealed, hugging her again. “When did you find out?”
“Three days ago.”
As more congratulations poured in, Tessa glanced toward her father and brother. Alex still looked surprised, but her father…
He hadn’t moved. He was still sitting there, staring at her.
Her nerves returned, and she let out a small, anxious chuckle. “Dad?” she called softly. “Aren’t you going to say anything?”
The sound of her voice seemed to snap him out of his trance. His expression softened, and he stood up, walking toward her.
Tessa barely had time to process before he pulled her into his arms. “So you’re saying I’m going to be a grandfather,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
He pulled back slightly, looking at her with something indescribable in his eyes. Pride. Love. A touch of disbelief.
Tessa nodded, her own eyes burning.
His arms tightened around her. “Congratulations, sweetheart.”
Tessa smiled and hugged him again. When they pulled apart, she looked him straight in the eyes. “I know you have questions, Dad. You can ask them.”
Before her father could even start, Gendry stood up, placing himself beside Tessa. “Before you ask the most obvious question on your mind, Kris,” Gendry said, “yes. I’m the father of the child Tessa is carrying.”
Tessa’s heart thudded as her father stared at Gendry, his brows furrowing deeper by the second.
“Of course I already figured that out,” her father finally scoffed, shaking his head. “It’s just… Tessa is two months pregnant. Two months. I—” He blinked rapidly as the realization dawned. “Unless…”
Tessa took pity on him. She sighed and decided to just put him out of his confusion.
“Dad,” she said carefully, “there was… something between Gendry and me. When we were in Jamaica.”
Her father’s frown only deepened. “I don’t understand. Since we left Jamaica, I haven’t seen you two together until yesterday. How could there be something between you when—”
Beside him, Thalassa let out a small chuckle and placed a hand on his chest. “Leave them alone, Kris,” she said, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
