Chapter 344:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Rebekah regained lucidity and wiped away her tears. She asked in a low voice, “Who is it?”.
No one answered.
Rebekah was stunned. She asked again, “Who?”
It was half past one in the morning. Customers would ask the front desk for help if they needed anything and only when the front desk was not available, they would come to get her. However, the person outside did not answer her.
Just when she thought she hadn’t heard right, the person outside knocked again.
“Who is it?” Rebekah got up and went to the door.
Different people were coming to the inn, so each room had a peephole.
Rebekah looked out the peephole, but found no one.
She was confused, but suddenly a black shadow covered the peephole.
Rebekah was startled and couldn’t help but stagger back.
The person outside knocked on the door again.
A piece of paper slipped through the slot in the door.
Rebekah hurriedly touched the paper and looked it over.
There were only a few words on the paper, “[Rebekah, where is our son, is he okay?”.]
Rebekah’s face suddenly paled, she couldn’t even regain lucidity. She felt her legs go weak and she fell to the floor.
The knocking on the door had also awakened Benjamin. Benjamin was always a light sleeper, so he got up, even though he had heard a very low noise. He felt uneasy when he heard the knock, so he went out and checked on everything.

There was no one in the hallway.
The reception staff was fast asleep, the front door was closed and the wind chimes were also silent. There seemed to be no one there.
Benjamin hesitated for a second, yet he went to the door of his mother’s room.
He knocked on the door.
“Mom? Are you sleeping?”
Inside there was silence. But soon Rebekah’s voice was heard. Her voice was low and strange, “It’s late. What’s wrong?”
“Well, nothing important.” Benjamin let out a sigh of relief, “I heard someone knocking on the door a moment ago and no one answered. Did you hear?”
“Oh? I didn’t hear anything, you must have misheard.”
“Really? Then I’m going back to sleep. Good night, Mom.”
“Good night.”
The sound of Benjamin’s footsteps faded.
In Rebekah’s room, Rebekah was standing by the door. And on the couch by the window, about six feet from her, sat a man in his fifties. He was smiling coldly.
“What are you afraid of? I’ve met you before. It must have been hard for you, raising our son all by yourself all these years. Why don’t you come and get me?”
“Shut up.”
Rebekah stopped the man in a cold voice. Then she lowered her voice in case the others heard her, “Ted, listen carefully. Benjamin is not your son, and our life has nothing to do with you either.”
“Oh?” Ted frowned. Then his face turned ominous, “That’s right. He’s a little younger than my son should be. So, that young man from the Beckham Family is my son, is he?”.
“What are you talking about?” Rebekah gritted her teeth: “My son has nothing to do with you. Why did you come back, why did you come looking for me?”.
“You’re as grumpy as ever.” The man sighed regretfully, “You shouldn’t talk so directly, we should greet each other first. Talking to each other like this will damage our relationship.”
“Relationship? What’s the relationship between us? You were with me only because you wanted the Beckham property. You lied to me, and you’ve lied for years. You bastard.”
“I don’t think so. After all I let you discover the deep love Henry had for you. You always wanted a love story, didn’t you? The one about a love deep enough to have someone die for you. I didn’t do that, but I did inspire another man, didn’t I?”
“You bastard!” Speaking of the past, Rebekah’s face turned sullen and her body trembled, “You planned that! Even Henry’s death was your idea. How dare you go back after all that?”.
“Why can’t I go back?” Ted snorted, “It’s been twenty years since that case, plenty of time for me to get out of the litigation period. Besides, you don’t dare tell the police either.”
“How do you know I don’t dare?”.
“Then go tell the police! Better let everyone know the truth, let them know that the noble Beckham Family Young Master actually has no Beckham blood in him. Let everyone know that he is my son…”.
Before Rebekah could stop him, the door was pushed open. With the spare key, Benjamin stepped inside and shouted at the man sitting on the couch.
“Say it again!”
Rebekah was nervous, even forgetting that her son was extremely watchful. His voice and words from earlier failed to make her believe that everything was okay.
He must have heard the whole argument between her and Ted.
Ted stood up and smiled arrogantly, “You’re good at eavesdropping, huh? Haven’t you heard? I don’t think I need to say it again.”
“Shut up!” Rebekah was furious. She just wanted Ted out of here. She shouted angrily at him, “Get out of here! Or I’m going to call the police!”.
“Police?” Ted took a deep breath, then snorted, “I don’t think you’re brave enough to call the police. You even left the Beckham Family with that little bastard to protect their image. You’ll never call the police.”
However, Benjamin wasn’t afraid of anything: “I’m not my mother, I don’t care about the Beckham’s fame. Who are you and what do you want, do you think there are no police in this town?”.
Then Benjamin pulled out his phone and wanted to call the police.
However, Rebekah was quick to stop him.
“Mom?”
“You can’t!” Rebekah snatched the phone from him. She took a deep breath and tried to calm down, then looked at Ted, “Talk, what do you want?”.
Hearing this, Ted grinned mischievously, “You should have said that earlier, do you really think I’m here to talk about the past?”
“You…”.
How could Benjamin stand this? He wanted to run to Ted, but his mother stopped him. His mother’s tone-deaf voice came from behind him, “What do you really want? I have nothing but this inn. I’m not a member of the Beckham Family.”
“Twenty million dollars.” Ted’s cold voice was firm, “I don’t care if you are a member of the Beckham Family. I need twenty million, in one week.”
“Are you crazy?” Rebekah glared at this man. She wanted to cut this bastard to pieces, “I can’t get that much money for you.”
“I don’t care.” Ted lit a cigarette. He sneered, “If you don’t give it to me, I’m going to go to the Beckham Family house and ask my son for money. I’m his father, so I deserve his pity.”
