Chapter 1105:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Grandmother’s health isn’t what it used to be. Don’t stir her up any further,” Brendon snapped out of his thoughts at last, giving Katie a reproachful look.
Katie blinked at him, almost certain she was staring at a stranger. The Brendon she knew would already have lashed out at Christina without hesitation. Now, even with Christina clearly having their grandmother wrapped around her finger, he showed no hint of outrage.
Relieved by his measured tone, Bethel spoke. “Since you’ve both come, stay and have dinner with us.”
“Of course,” Brendon answered without the slightest hesitation.
Christina slipped an arm around Bethel to guide her toward the dining room. Brendon made to follow, but Katie clutched his sleeve before he could take a step.
“Aren’t you afraid that Grandma might hand over all the shares to Christina?” Katie whispered, her brows drawn together.
Brendon stopped and glanced down at her, his voice steady. “That won’t happen. I trust Grandma’s judgment. She wouldn’t do that to me.”
He was the heir, after all. No matter how clouded Bethel’s mind grew, she wouldn’t strip him of the company’s lifeblood and hand it to Christina. That would be tantamount to letting Christina seize control of the company and ousting the Dawson family from it.
“You should still be cautious,” Katie insisted, unease tightening her tone. “Look at Grandma—it’s like she’s been bewitched, obeying Christina’s every word.” Every time Katie thought about those shares, her stomach knotted. Grandma had already given Christina the Dawson residence. What was to stop her from something even more outrageous?
“You’re letting your fears get the better of you,” Brendon replied, his voice calm but firm. “No matter how unreasonable she may seem, she’s still our grandmother. She knows who belongs to this family, and she would never hand over everything to an outsider.”

He was confident that Katie’s worries would never become reality. He was Bethel’s grandson, her own blood. However much Bethel favored Christina, she would not hand the Dawson family’s legacy over to an outsider.
Katie muttered in annoyance, “Grandma already handed over the family house to Christina—wasn’t that just plain outrageous?”
“Let’s eat first,” Brendon said, walking toward the dining room.
Katie glared at his retreating back and stomped her foot in frustration. How maddening. It was bad enough that Grandma had fallen under that troublesome Christina’s spell, but now Brendon, too, seemed bewitched by her.
Katie vowed to speak with Yolanda, to make certain Yolanda kept a tight hold on Brendon’s heart—otherwise that snake, Christina, would surely steal him away.
Katie dragged herself into the dining room, bristling even more when she saw they had already begun eating without her. The moment she sat down, her brother’s unusually soft tone caught her attention.
“These turkeys you like—have some more,” Brendon murmured, carefully using the serving fork and knife to place a piece onto Christina’s plate.
Christina stared at him as though he had lost his senses, leaving him frozen with the fork and knife suspended in the air. Had he been mistaken?
