Chapter 1147:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Joselyn stood outside the door with a tight, irritated look on her face as she was not allowed to enter directly, but the second Aylin led her in, she swapped that scowl for a bright, fake smile.
She was holding a fancy gift bag as she made her way into the living room. Right there on the couch was Christina, lounging without a care.
“Christina!” Joselyn called out with a grin, though annoyance flickered back into her eyes as Christina gave her a quick glance but didn’t even bother getting up.
To Joselyn, that was pure evidence of rudeness and disrespect.
Christina didn’t bother with pleasantries. “What brings you here?”
“With our relationship, can’t I just come for a visit?” Joselyn replied sweetly, plastering on another smile.
Christina looked her dead in the eye, cold and unamused. “Our relationship doesn’t feel that good to me.”
Joselyn’s smile faltered for a split second, but she caught herself. She couldn’t afford to lose her cool—not now. She needed Christina back on her side, especially to get that clingy Yolanda out of the Dawson family. Now that Christina had made something of herself—with all those titles and influence—Joselyn figured Christina might still have a shot at winning Brendon’s heart again.
“Christina, I know you’re still angry, and I don’t blame you. I’m sorry… for everything I did,” Joselyn said softly, setting the gift bag down in front of Christina. “This is the newest designer bag. I got it just for you.”
Christina didn’t even blink. “No thanks. I have no credit to accept it.”
This sudden kindness? It made no sense. Back when she was living with the Dawsons, Joselyn wouldn’t even let her have clearance-sale leftovers, let alone brand-new luxury.
“Oh, come on, Christina. It’s just a small gift—my way of showing goodwill,” Joselyn said, still trying to keep her tone light and pleasant.
Christina’s voice didn’t soften. “I can’t afford your kind of goodwill. If that’s all you came for, I’ll have Aylin walk you out.”

She used to bend over backward to please the Dawsons, but that version of her was long gone. They never appreciated it anyway.
“Don’t be like this, Christina…” Joselyn grew anxious. She couldn’t give up just yet. With a frustrated sigh, she reached into her bag and pulled out a bank card. She’d hoped the handbag alone would do the trick, but clearly, Christina wasn’t that easy to buy off.
“This card has $100,000 on it. Just take it,” she said, sliding it across the table with a flattering smile.
Immediately, Christina’s guard went up. This wasn’t some random act of kindness—Joselyn clearly wanted something in return. “What do you want from me?” Christina asked flatly.
“No, no, nothing like that,” Joselyn said quickly. “I just want you to come visit me more often… spend some time with me.”
