Chapter 1463:

But now, hearing Corrine speak so openly, Bruce began to doubt everything he thought he knew.
“Mr. Ashton, why the sudden silence?” Nate’s voice cut through the quiet, sharp and icy, sending a chill through the crowd.
The atmosphere in the banquet hall stiffened instantly. A cold tension gripped the room, and the guests held their breath.
Corrine’s expression remained unchanged. Her fingers absently rubbed the gemstone ring on her middle finger, unbothered.
Bruce’s face drained of color. His heart pounded in his chest, and his throat felt parched, like he’d been exposed to the sun for days.
Time seemed to drag before he finally forced himself to speak. Jaw clenched, he bent forward in a reluctant show of humility.
“I’m sorry. I truly apologize for how I acted earlier.”
“I’ll accept the apology. But don’t mistake that for forgiveness,” Corrine replied coldly. “Let me give you a piece of advice—alcohol makes fools of men. Drink less, Mr. Ashton.”
“Yes,” Bruce muttered, turning away with his head lowered in shame.
As he walked off, Nate’s voice followed, slow and mysterious. “Is that all?”
Corrine arched a brow and cast Nate a sidelong glance, the corners of her lips curving with quiet mischief. “How could I possibly let him off the hook that easily?”
Bruce had crossed a line—humiliating her in front of everyone and using her to ridicule Nate. That was not something she could simply overlook.
No, this was not a matter to be dismissed with a few empty words. Not after what had happened. Too many people had witnessed it. If they allowed this to pass without consequences, the Ford family’s standing in Lyhaton would become a laughingstock.

Both her pride and logic screamed in unison—this could not be allowed to slide.
Just then, Carl and Jules returned from outside.
The moment they stepped in, they sensed the tense murmuring buzzing through the air like static. Their brows drew together, eyes narrowing as they scanned the room.
Jules turned toward Rachel. “What happened?”
Rachel had been there the entire time, quietly observing as the drama unfolded. With Nate present to back Corrine, she saw no reason to interfere. There was strength in restraint—and Corrine had handled herself well.
Now, prompted by Jules, Rachel relayed the entire ordeal in careful detail.
As he listened, Jules’ expression darkened. The calm in his gaze drained away, replaced by a cold, hard glare brimming with restrained fury.
“Call Jayden,” Carl ordered sharply, his eyes settling on his butler, Leland. “Tell him to dig deep into the Ashton family—leave no stone unturned. If there is anything illegal, I want it exposed. As of this moment, the company severs all ties with Ashton Group. Blacklist them permanently. And let it be known—anyone who chooses to side with the Ashton family will be treated as an enemy of the Ford family.”
