Chapter 1224:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Up next, round twenty! The Dark Hills versus the Axe Gang!” the announcer said as his voice echoed across the arena.
Roars and cheers filled the arena as anticipation reached its peak.
“This is it! The Dark Hills versus the Axe Gang! I’ve been waiting for this!” No other match had stirred the crowd quite like this one.
“Ms. Morgan, you must win and help us seize the Axe Gang’s territory!” Orlando said earnestly to Maren.
Up to this point, the Axe Gang had claimed more ground, thanks to their greater numbers. But one victory from Maren could tip the balance, opening the path for the Dark Hills to reclaim control.
“I’ll win every round and claim their land and resources.” After that, Maren climbed into the ring, calm and ready.
“That’s what I like to hear.” Orlando leaned back, clearly relaxed and in high spirits, showing no concern about Maren facing off against Scar.
Considering Scar had already competed earlier, Orlando had every reason to feel confident. Maren didn’t view him as a real challenge.
Maren proved that belief right. The moment she entered the ring, the fight ended almost instantly—Scar was killed.
The match ended so quickly that the entire arena burst into chaos, voices rising in disbelief and amazement once more.
“That was incredible!”

“Did you see that? Another one down in seconds! How can anyone be that powerful? Is she really even human?”
“She’s a legend!”
The crowd of gangsters, almost all men, had always dismissed her as weak and unremarkable. Watching Maren wipe the floor with her opponent shattered every one of their assumptions. Their respect for her now rivaled the awe an underdog feels for a reigning champ.
Meanwhile, Jovanni was fuming. Moments earlier, he’d been exchanging barbs with Orlando. Now, his own fighter was eliminated. It was a shot straight to his pride.
“Don’t get cocky. Scar was the weakest on our side anyway,” he scoffed, trying to downplay the loss.
Jovanni tried to shrug it off, but he couldn’t ignore the sting. Just when he’d managed to take a territory from the Dark Hills, Maren had snatched it right back.
“Listen, if either of you faces that woman in the next round, finish her. For good,” he instructed the two men beside him.
One was a wiry youth with a thin mustache, the other an older man clad in a white coat.
Both had already made a name for themselves in the ring. They could dispatch opponents in just a few moves, sometimes even with a single strike.
The young man offered a sly grin. “You can count on us, Mr. Glyn. With the reward you’ve promised, there’s no way we’ll fail.”
