Chapter 1229:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
She deliberately projected vulnerability while strategically unleashing sudden explosions of power, maintaining a precarious balance that kept victory uncertain for both combatants.
“It seems I’ve underestimated you. Looks like I need to be more serious.”
After a while, the man found himself growing increasingly agitated. Despite maintaining his apparent advantage, he had failed to deliver the decisive blow against Maren.
To complement his escalating aggression perfectly, Maren feigned mounting desperation, allowing herself to be systematically driven backward with each exchange.
“Oh no! She might lose.”
“No way! She’s invincible! She can’t lose.”

Even the battle-hardened gang members found themselves developing genuine anxiety regarding Maren’s prospects.
“Maren, you cannot disappoint me now,” Orlando whispered through clenched teeth, his jaw aching with tension.
He had just risked three valuable territories, placing his complete trust in Maren’s confident assurances. If she lost, he’d have a hard time explaining it to his father.
“Look! The battle is going to end!”
Orlando, trapped in his spiraling anxiety, was suddenly jolted back to the present by the collective gasps erupting from the crowd. His attention snapped back to focus on Maren and her opponent.
Both appeared to unleash every reserve of strength they possessed.
Maren delivered a bone-crushing kick that shattered the man’s neck with a sickening crack, while his retaliatory strike aimed at Maren’s throat was barely evaded through desperate reflexes. Instead, she absorbed the devastating impact with her shoulder, the collision nearly proving fatal for both fighters locked in combat.
When the dust settled, Maren emerged triumphant from the brutal encounter. Nevertheless, she had apparently sustained severe injuries from deflecting the attack with her shoulder.
“Wow! She won again! Amazing!”
“I knew she wouldn’t lose! That Axe Gang guy was no match.”
At some point during the intense battle, the gang members who had initially harbored deep resentment toward the Dark Hills had become Maren’s supporters.
“Ha-ha! I’ve discovered a goldmine!” Orlando exploded with euphoria, his elation surpassing everyone else’s combined joy.
He had just reclaimed four precious territories from the Axe Gang’s control, including the territory Maren had already secured through her previous victory. Upon his return to the Dark Hills headquarters, he would be welcomed as a conquering hero. His father would shower him with praise.
“Have I satisfied your expectations, Mr. Rhodes?” Maren inquired as she settled back into her seat, her smile broadening at the sight of Orlando’s radiant expression of triumph.
