Chapter 436:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Oh, Clarisse! My daughter!”
Clarisse stepped back swiftly before she could make contact.
“I think you’re mistaken. I’m not your daughter,” she said coldly and brushed past her to take her seat.
Patricia swallowed hard, and her hands trembled.
“Why are you here? I believe you’re here for a reason,” she asked, and gasped when she saw her fall to her knees with tears in her eyes, weeping profusely.
“Please forgive me. I’ve offended you and done nothing but wrong and evil to you. Please,” she clasped her hands together, “please forgive me.”
Clarisse scoffed and chuckled softly before turning back to her.
“What exactly are you begging forgiveness for? Be specific.”
“For everything. I’ve done unbelievable things, and I don’t even deserve your forgiveness.”
“Then why are you asking?”
“Please forgive my daughter. You can replace her with me instead. I will go to jail for her. Please, let her go.”
Clarisse sighed.
“When were you going to tell me you killed my parents?”
Patricia choked on her tears and burst into another round of sobs. Her shoulders dropped with weakness, and her heart sank.
“I’m sorry.”
“You’re sorry? You’re sorry? You made me an orphan and treated me like a slave, but you’re sorry?”
“I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, and I want you to keep hating me.”
Clarisse scoffed in anger.
“…but please, forgive my daughter. Please, have mercy on her. I’m begging you,” she pleaded desperately. “Please. She’s pregnant.”

“What?!”
“Alice is pregnant.”
Clarisse stood up in shock, breathing heavily, as thousands of thoughts ran through her head at once. Before walking out on her, she said,
“Handing her over to the cops is me being merciful. It’s her deeds that got her there, not me.”
“Clarisse, please!” Patricia cried after her, but she walked out.
Clarisse walked straight into his arms, breathing heavily.
“It’s okay. You made the right decision,” Christian said, patting her back, not knowing exactly what her decision was, but believing in her.
“She is pregnant, Christian. Alice is pregnant.”
“You saved her then.”
She broke the hug and looked at him worriedly.
“She’s carrying an innocent child. I don’t want the child to grow up in prison.”
“Her mother is there to take care of the baby. You have nothing to feel guilty about. She didn’t care about her child when she was planning to kill you, so don’t be bothered.”
She smiled in relief at his words, letting go of her guilt, and wrapped her arms around him, resting her head against his chest. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
