Chapter 2126:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
After leaving the hospital, Sonia escorted Lexi to the hotel designated by Brandon. Once she was certain Lexi was safe, Sonia returned to the apartment.
On the way, she suddenly remembered the snacks Mona had mentioned yesterday and made a quick stop at a century-old store to buy them.
It took her nearly two hours to return home.
As Sonia approached her apartment, the elevator door chimed open. She was about to reach for her keys when she noticed the door was already ajar.
Suddenly, the bag of snacks Sonia was holding slipped from her grip and fell to the floor.
Her nerves spiked instantly.
She distinctly remembered locking the door before leaving. Was it possible Mona had run out?
Thinking this over, Sonia was about to hurry inside, but then she stopped.
What if it wasn’t Mona who had left, but Alexandra who had arrived?
The thought hit Sonia suddenly.
If it was Alexandra, there would undoubtedly be a group of bodyguards nearby. While Sonia was confident in her ability to handle them, she had to consider Mona’s safety. Escaping would certainly pose a challenge.
As a precaution, Sonia decided to contact Brandon first. Sonia quickly pulled out her phone to text Brandon for assistance. Suddenly, she heard footsteps inside the apartment.

True to her expectations, it was Alexandra.
Hatred seethed in Sonia’s eyes.
Taking a deep breath, she stepped through the doorway.
Despite knowing the dangers lurking inside, Sonia refused to turn away. She couldn’t bear the thought of leaving Mona behind, even if it meant risking her life.
Meanwhile, Alexandra lounged on the sofa Sonia had once picked out, accompanied by a male bodyguard sporting a scar on his forehead.
“I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, and you’re finally back,” Alexandra greeted Sonia with a smile, though her eyes betrayed no warmth.
Ignoring Alexandra, Sonia’s eyes darted around the room, searching for Mona.
Near the floor-to-ceiling window, Mona sat on the floor with her wrists and ankles securely bound by thick ropes, her mouth sealed with transparent tape. Tears filled her wide eyes, clearly displaying her terror.
The moment Sonia appeared, Mona shifted anxiously, staring at her with wide eyes and emitting muffled whimpering sounds from behind the tape.
Though Sonia understood Mona’s urgency to leave, she rushed to her side without a moment’s hesitation.
Squatting beside Mona, she embraced her, whispering, “Don’t be scared. I won’t let anyone harm you.”
Mona shook her head frantically, tears streaming down her face, and her body repeatedly bumped into Sonia, as if trying to push her away.
But despite Mona’s attempts to push her away, Sonia still held her tightly.
Exhausted from crying, Mona eventually gave in, leaning weakly against Sonia, who refused to budge.
Alexandra looked on with indifference the entire time, until Sonia spoke, finally breaking the stalemate.
“What do you want?” Sonia’s voice was cold as she held Mona close. “If this is about revenge, deal with me. Don’t drag innocent people into this.”
Alexandra sneered and asked, “Why did you betray me? Are you really willing to risk your life for a madwoman?”
Hearing this, Sonia stared at Alexandra warily and asserted, “It’s my choice. I’m willing to do this.”
