Chapter 779:

Alicia’s complexion turned ghostly pale.
“Just get me to the hospital, please.”
The discomfort in her abdomen was intensifying, spreading a novel kind of fear throughout her.
The doctor had warned Alicia to avoid stress in her current condition, but her heart had been aching all day. The pain now intensified, though the baby had been remarkably resilient until now.
As Alicia reached the first floor, she ran into Monica and Gerry. Learning she wasn’t feeling well, Gerry decided to drive her to the hospital himself, with Monica sitting beside her in the backseat. Although Alicia’s pregnancy remained private, her pale face hinted at something serious.
Gerry asked, “What’s wrong? Did you eat something bad?”
Alicia shook her head.
“Drive carefully. It’s not urgent. Just get us there safely,” she said, noticing the snowy, slick roads.

Monica’s eyes were red with frustration.
“That jerk, Caden! I swear, he’ll get an earful from me when he’s back!”
Gerry added his own complaints.
“Unbelievable! He’s usually reliable but disappears right when you need him.” Still, Gerry tried to defend his friend.
“Alicia, Caden must’ve had a reason for leaving so suddenly — it’s probably another one of Yolanda’s schemes. Don’t let her get between you two.”
Alicia knew the reason all too well, and a bitter smile spread across her face. The weather was awful, and traffic crawled along. Alicia began to feel slightly better and leaned back in her seat, lost in thought.
Monica pulled out her phone.
“Where does it hurt? I’ll set up an appointment.”
Then, without warning, Monica took Alicia’s hand to check her pulse.
With a background in pharmacology, Monica had picked up a little knowledge of diagnostics. Alicia tried to pull her hand away, but Monica’s expression changed as she felt the pulse. Seeing her reaction, Alicia stopped resisting. Monica’s eyes grew wide.
“Oh my God, you’re pregnant!”
Gerry nearly lost his grip on the steering wheel, causing the car to skid. Monica shot him a glare.
“Careful!”
“Someone just cut me off!” Gerry explained, getting his focus back before looking over at Alicia.
“Wait, you’re pregnant?”
Alicia nodded, realizing that she couldn’t hide it any longer. Monica let out a muffled scream of joy.
“How far along?”
