Chapter 1160:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Exhaustion crept across Gracie’s face as she leaned back into her chair. One after another, people kept trying to force her hand, all of them desperate for her to develop the reagent.
Lifting her eyes toward Charlie, she said quietly, “Tighten security over the next few days. Nothing can happen to him. Not under any circumstances.”
“There was already one failed attempt last night. Do you think Eaton’s going to make another move?”
“We couldn’t afford to take that kind of risk,” Gracie murmured, her voice clouded with strain.
A person only got one life. It wasn’t something she could casually wager away.
Pushing herself to her feet, she said, “I already agreed to work with Eaton yesterday. If I want to stop him from doing anything reckless, I need to go to the company myself.”
After leaving the hospital, she headed straight for Radiant Technologies.
Caught off guard, Phoebe looked over at the heavily pregnant Gracie. “You’re practically due any day now. Why are you coming to the company at a time like this? If there’s anything that needs taking care of, just say the word and I’ll do it myself.”

Gracie only gave a faint shake of her head before grabbing a white lab coat and walking toward the laboratory. “Some things can only be done by me.”
The lab door slid shut behind her with a cold metallic sound.
Left standing outside, Phoebe frowned in confusion, unease slowly tightening in her chest.
For reasons she couldn’t explain, an awful feeling suddenly washed over her.
Inside the laboratory, Gracie sat before the equipment and carefully removed the previously sealed reagent from the safe.
“Looks like I’ll need to create a disguise this time…”
Far overseas, deep inside a cold underground basement, Gilmore’s corpse rested on a crude makeshift bed. Even with the temperature lowered to near freezing, faint signs of decay had already started to show.
Standing nearby, the assistant’s expression turned grim. “Mr. Gibson… Gilmore’s gone. We may have the research data and fragments of the experimental formula, but finding another expert capable of continuing the project won’t be easy. And the previous batch of reagents has already been destroyed. We need to get rid of the body.”
“Get out.” Ian turned and glared at the assistant. “What exactly are you trying to say?”
Pressing his lips into a thin line, the assistant met his eyes with a troubled look. “We already failed. No matter how hard we try, we can’t reverse what happened anymore. You can’t keep sinking deeper into this mess. Zachary’s already making his move and pinning the entire failure on you. If we don’t strike back first, there’s no telling what will happen next…”
“That’s enough.” Ian’s cold voice sliced straight through him. “What happens to me is none of your business. And who told you we’ve failed? If you think staying by my side is too dangerous, then leave right now.”
Color drained from the assistant’s face. In the end, he gave a defeated shake of his head before silently turning away.
