Chapter 252:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Since they had time to go out to play, Dolores asked her son, Samuel, to go together. She was worried that his eyesight would suffer as a result of their constant playing.
However, as soon as they got downstairs they saw Charles.
Charles looked at the family of four, who were exiting the elevator, and asked with a smile, “Are you going out?”
Matthew scoffed, “Mr. White, you follow us around all the time.”
Charles was not angry and smiled, “Mr. Nelson flatters me.”
He looked at Dolores, “I know there is a suitable place for the children to play here.

I can show them the way.”
Charles was making a decision rather than asking a question, “You are coming to my house, and I should be hospitable to you. I hope Mr. Nelson and Miss Flores will put up with me if there is something I have not done right.”
Dolores could not refuse since Charles had said so. She looked at Matthew and smiled slightly, “Then I’ll put Mr. White to the trouble of showing us the way to the place.”
“Not a problem.” Charles smiled, “Actually, the reason I looked you up was to ask if you wanted to go out. After all, you have two kids. They must be bored of always being at the hotel.”
Dolores gave a stiff smile and explained, “Because I have to take them out to play, so I don’t have time…”.
Dolores didn’t even have to explain. Charles knew it was Matthew who would not allow her to meet with him.
To make this mean Matthew even more angry and uncomfortable, he smiled, “Before you go, we’ll probably have to see each other more often. I also moved to the hotel today.”
“Why does Mr. White want to stay at the hotel? Is it because he doesn’t have a place to stay?” Samuel moved to Dolores’ side, and Dolores took his hand.
“Hmm…” Charles pondered for a moment, “For the convenience of taking care of you. You see, I live in White City and this hotel is my home. It will be more comfortable for you if I’m here.”
Samuel blinked. Even if he wasn’t there, they were fine. If one was rich, it would be convenient everywhere.
Charles obviously came here for Mom.
Before, he had wished Charles would fight for Mom with Dad. But now, he no longer wished it.
He was worried that Dad and Mom would split up and he would no longer have Dad.
Besides, Matthew was better looking and richer than Charles. But more importantly, Charles couldn’t walk.
Samuel held Dolores’ hand tightly, as if he feared Charles would steal his mommy.
“Come on. It’s not early anymore. Let’s play first, and then we can go see the fountain.” Charles went ahead and led the way.
This was no stranger.
When he got into his car, Charles said, “My car will be in the front. You can follow my car.”
Matthew looked at him coldly, “You don’t even treat yourself like a stranger.”
Charles smiled, “Miss Flores and I go way back. I also collaborate with Mr. Nelson. So, of course, I’m not a stranger.” Matthew did not respond and got into the car.
The bodyguard closed the door, blocking Charles’ view.
Tom pushed Charles’ wheelchair and Charles climbed into the car.
The place Charles mentioned was not far from the hotel. It was only about a ten-minute drive away. It was a newly repaired building that mimicked the old style of the building of yesteryear.
The long corridor was built along a clear, man-made lake. The long corridor was precisely and exquisitely repaired. Every tile and every brick, even the smallest details of the wood carving, were meticulously constructed. It had a very delicate appearance.
At the end of the long corridor was an old mansion. The door of the mansion was magnificent, and resembled the mansion where the prince lived in ancient times. It was as if they had entered the world of antiquity.
On the lake, there were some red koi, as well as wooden boats, silk, red lanterns and boatmen floating on the water.
“You can feed the fish in the boat,” Charles said after noticing Simona’s eagerness to try.
“I want to take a ride in the boat and feed the fish,” shouted Simona, who was very excited. Children can quickly become interested in something and settle for it easily.
Although it was nothing out of the ordinary, she wanted to do it because it interested her.
Since the weather was nice today, they could also relax by taking a boat ride and feeding the fish.
“Alright. Then we’ll go boating and feed the fish. I’ll go buy the food for the fish.” Dolores asked her son, Samuel, to stay here and wait for her.
The store that sold fish food was at the other end of the hall. Dolores headed for the store.
Matthew stood by the aisle, gazing out at the crystal clear lake. He could clearly see the algae, which looked like long hairs, below. The place had a cleaner, fresher air than in the city.
“There will be a lot of people here if today is a two-day weekend.” This place had become a popular place for many people to go for a walk on their day off.
It would be very satisfying to bask in the sun while feeding the fish.
Matthew squinted at Charles and teased, “Mr. White, you worry so much about us every day, aren’t you looking at Dolores?”
Charles did not hide his thoughts, “I saved Miss Flores and let her recover at my house because I mistook her for Victoria’s daughter. My adoptive father left his last wish before he passed away. He expected me to marry Victoria’s daughter. But I didn’t,…”
Matthew remained calm, but there was an emotional change in his heart.
He became more and more interested in Victoria telling her past.
It was clear that she and Nathan had feelings for each other, but why, in the end, was she married to her father?
Charles paused and said calmly and undisguised, “The period I was in contact with Miss Flores was not long, but I do have feelings for her. I also know that you and she were not as close as you appear to be. I think I can still try to fight for her.”
There was a sudden gust of wind. Matthew turned his head back and returned his gaze to Charles, who was backlit and calm. Their gazes collided. It was more powerful than ten thousand words and ten thousand fights.
Matthew looked calm, “Mr. White, not only are you wrong from the start, but you won’t stand a chance in the future. She and I get along just fine.”
Not emphasizing, not boasting, not bragging, but simply stating. Matthew was that calm and confident.
Charles knew that his confidence had been given to him by Dolores.
He could tell that Dolores’ attitude toward Matthew had changed. She wasn’t faking it as before, but it was coming from her heart, a reaction from her bodily instincts.
She was concerned about Matthew’s feelings.
Just as a moment ago, when he said he wanted to lead the way, Dolores turned to look at Matthew, as if she feared he would be unhappy.
When she cared about someone’s feelings, it meant she already had a place in her heart for that person.
Charles was still smiling, but he was a little chagrined, “It doesn’t matter, if one day he gets tired of you, I don’t mind being his second string guy.” He didn’t mind losing face?
Samuel quietly stepped to Matthew’s side and took his hand, “My mom is not a half-hearted person. We’re not splitting up.”
He knew and was sure which of these two men, Matthew or Charles, was the better fit for his mom and her family.
Matthew was his and Simona’s father.
They were a complete family only if his mom was with Matthew.
She would not allow anyone to ruin their family. Charles wanted to talk to Samuel, “Samuel…”
Plop!
“What’s that sound?”
Suddenly, there was the sound of something falling into the water.
Samuel raised his head, “Why hasn’t Mommy come back after so long?”
Matthew raised his head and cast a thoughtful glance at Charles. He grabbed his son, “Let’s go take a look.”
Charles followed them as well.
On their way, they noticed that the fish food was scattered all over the ground. There was more than one footprint in the grass, and they were not large. They were, no doubt, women’s footprints.
There were a lot of big ripples spreading across the surface of the water.
“Help…”
Matthew glanced at the water. Perhaps because the lake was too deep, the person inside the lake sometimes had their head out, sometimes they were sinking into the water.
He couldn’t see her face, but he was sure that the person who had fallen into the lake was Dolores.
He lowered his daughter down without hesitation. It was freezing cold in December. The water in the lake was even colder, piercingly cold.
