Chapter 266:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Armand had been despondent and despondent for a while because of Phoebe Lewis. He couldn’t recover from his breakup with her for a long time. Mrs. Leslie didn’t like women who made her grandson sad and sorry. To keep things from changing when Armand saw Phoebe on his return, she decided to have them married there before she went back.
Boyce’s expression changed immediately. Now he finally understood why Mrs. Leslie was stubbornly inquiring about Armand’s whereabouts and coming all the way out here in the middle of such a blizzard. It turned out that Phoebe had returned and was afraid that her grandson would be nice to her again. Fearing that Boyce would inform Armand, Mrs. Leslie grabbed his arm and threatened, “Don’t tell Armand or I’ll be angry.”
Boyce had pondered whether to tell Armand at first, after all, the woman he once adored had now returned. However, he dared not say it now. If the old woman got angry and did something, he would be in big trouble. Now he regretted asking her that. He wished he had not known it before. He would be guilty whether he said it or not.
“What are you two chatting about?” Armand approached them.
Boyce pushed him away. “Well, urm… yeah, I’m thinking about how much money I should give you as a wedding present.” Boyce told a lie that he considered impeccable after mumbling for a long while.
Armand noticed no aberration in his grandmother being so eager to ask him to marry. It only seemed to him that his grandmother was being a little more anxious and had urged him to marry earlier. “The more the merrier, of course,” Armand said enthusiastically. He was certainly delighted to receive money.
“Sure.” Boyce was not stingy and said, “I’ll give you plenty.”

“Since your best friends are all here, and I think this hotel looks good, let’s arrange it then, your wedding would be held on the 18th.”
“But, I…”
“That’s fine, it doesn’t matter if it’s day or night.” Theresa wanted to say that she disagreed and that they shouldn’t arrange the marriage so soon, but Armand snatched her hand away. Fearing that Theresa would change her mind, Armand said, “Sure, on the 18th then, we can get the marriage certificate later.” Armand and Theresa’s wedding was then settled.
After lunch, Mrs. Leslie dragged Boyce to find the hotel manager to discuss the wedding venue. Dolores had been uncomfortable that Matthew was purposely staying away from her. He expressed no personal opinion about Armand and Theresa’s marriage. Also, because Armand had pushed Theresa away, she had no time or opportunity to talk to her as well.
“Mommy, I see you’re in a bad mood.” Samuel grabbed her hands and asked, “Did you have a fight with him?”
Matthew loved to cling to Dolores. Today, however, not only was he not doing that, he wouldn’t even sit with her when they ate.
Dolores stroked her son’s head. She had thoughts on her mind, and she was reluctant to confess them to her son. Samuel was a very attentive child; if he had found out anything, he might start to worry about her. However, it was clear that Matthew was behaving abnormally.
Dolores then said, “It’s nothing, marriages always fight.”
“Is that so? Then please reconcile as soon as possible,” Samuel said carefully.
Dolores smiled and agreed.
Samuel let go of her hand and headed for his own room when he reached hers. He was addicted to video games lately and played in his bed whenever he was free. Matthew was with Simona and they were not in the room. Dolores went to look for them in another room, but they were still gone. The room was empty and no one was to be seen.
As she pulled out her phone and was about to call Matthew, someone tugged on her sleeve. She looked down and saw Simona standing behind her with a smile. She put the phone back in her pocket, squatted down and hugged her. Looking up, she saw Matthew standing not far from her. His arms, which were holding his daughter, tensed slightly.
Simona stroked his face and asked, “Mommy, who are you going to call now?”
Dolores thought for a while and said, “I wasn’t going to call anyone, I was just pulling out the phone to check the time.”
“Ah, where’s Samuel?” Simona blinked.
“He’s in the room.”
“I want to play with him.” Simona jumped into the room to look for Samuel. She seemed to have found him and her excited voice was heard next. “Samuel!”
Dolores stood up and as they saw each other, they did not utter a word. Dolores spoke only after making thorough considerations, “I…”. Matthew did not hear her and immediately entered the room.
Dolores remained silent. She brought her laptop and sat on the couch, busying herself with the documents Abbott had sent her. Actually, all those documents were not urgent, she was just waiting for Dolores’ explanation. It wasn’t because he lacked confidence in her. He just liked that she took the initiative to talk and explain herself to him. If she was willing to take the initiative to explain herself to him, that meant she cared about him.
“I got the call from Charles White when I went out with Theresa. He asked me to go out with him. Since we’re friends, I agreed. He told me about Lacey Ward and then Lacey’s brother came to pick him up. They had some arguments and the time was late. He wanted to invite me to lunch, but I declined. My coat was stuck in the gap between the seats when we got back and he helped me get it out. And that’s what you saw.”
Matthew showed no fluctuation of emotion and seemed not to hear her. However, he was actually listening to her intently. The reason he was not speaking and pretending to be angry was to wait for Dolores to cajole him. Not knowing if it was his thought influencing her action, he had actually written “cajole me” in the signature space.
Abbott wasn’t able to respond for a long time when he saw that and sent her a message with caution and fear.
“How?” Matthew was startled when he saw his message. At first he wanted to criticize him for not being serious, but when he realized what he had done, he flinched and quickly undid the message.
Seeing him somewhat busy, Dolores no longer bothered him and said, “I have my own principles, I hope you can believe me. I won’t bother you for now.” After finishing, he turned and walked away.
“…” That’s it? You’re not going to explain anything to him? Shouldn’t you kiss him, hug him, cheer him up, ask him to believe you, ask him not to be angry, etc.?
He still hadn’t said anything, and he hadn’t said he wasn’t angry. How could he just walk away like that? He put down the laptop and ran out, but Dolores had already gone down the elevator and he missed her. Without knowing why, the elevator next door didn’t come up from the stairs after a long while and didn’t respond after he pressed the button several times. He hurried to use the stairs and ran downstairs. Yes, to catch up with Dolores, he ran without taking care of his image. Dolores had already asked the chauffeur to take the car and left the hotel when he arrived downstairs.
Theresa was getting married and Dolores wanted to specially design a wedding dress for her. Time was running out and she needed to buy the equipment and accessories to make the dress. She had a whole piece of chiffon scattered around that Kevin Forbis had given her and it happened to be white. She wanted to make that silk the main fabric and use other lace to embellish it.
She heard that there was a commodity town from the hotel staff and that the town had everything. She wanted to look around to see if she could find the things she wanted. She already had a basic idea of what the wedding dress was going to look like in her mind, what she lacked now was the material. However, bricks could not be made without straw.
The car stopped in the commodity town after a while and she got out of the car. The driver also got out and followed her inside. There were many cars parked at the entrance and the huge parking lot was packed with cars. All the visitors were coming to buy goods and the passers-by walking back and forth were carrying many things.
The driver sighed. “The place doesn’t look big, but there are a lot of people.” Dolores nodded. She thought, if such a small place could attract so many visitors, there must be something special about it. She quickened her pace. “Let’s go in.”
