Chapter 562:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
The man, who had appeared in C-Town and whose name was Declan Bailey, as Dolores guessed, was now showing up here. She wondered if he had come for Matthew.
At that moment, the call on her phone connected. She heard Boyce’s voice.

“Hello?”
Since Dolores was using a new number she started using after moving to C-Town, Boyce saw it as an unfamiliar number on the phone.
Dolores tapped the phone. “What the hell happened to her Theresa?”
Boyce seemed startled at this voice. After a pause, he answered, “She’s in a hospital now.”
“Did she hurt herself?” she asked nervously.
“She has some injuries and is now running a fever. The doctor is treating her,” Boyce answered truthfully.
When Dolores heard his words, however, she didn’t understand.
Boyce’s answer kept echoing in her mind.
She thought of John’s naked body and subconsciously misinterpreted that Theresa had been raped.
He looked down and asked in a hoarse voice, “Does Armand know?”
Boyce replied, “Yes, he knows.”
“What hospital are they in now?” asked Dolores in a hoarse tone.
“Are you coming?”
“Not now. I’ll come later.” Right now, she wanted to know why Declan had come to see Matthew.
“First Village Hospital,” Boyce said.
“Got it. Thanks.” He hung up the phone.
Pushing open the door, she got out and told the driver, “Please wait here for me.”
He planned to go to the hospital later.
The driver answered and parked the car in the basement garage. It was quite warm outside.
Dolores entered the lobby. Although Matthew did not announce her identity to the public, he had admitted her to the company. Therefore, all the employees knew who she was. They did not stop her but treated her with respect.
She smiled faintly at whoever greeted her.
As she exited the elevator, she bumped into Abbot. Upon seeing her, Abbot asked with a smile, “Good morning, Mrs. Nelson. Have you come to pick up Mr. Nelson?”
As Matthew’s important assistant, Abbot was not involved in Matthew’s daily life as much as Boyce and Armand, but he was very clear about his boss’s business.
Dolores replied, “Yes. Is this a good time?”
Abbott said, “Mr. Nelson is in a meeting with a guest now.”
“Is the guest wearing a silver-gray suit?” she asked.
Abbott nodded. “Have you seen Mr. Bailey?”
Hearing that, Dolores was absolutely certain that the man was indeed Declan Bailey. Otherwise, Abbott would not have called him “Mr. Bailey.”
She nodded. “Yes. I saw him come in earlier.”
“Would you wait in the lounge, please?” asked Abbott.
Dolores shook her head. “No, thank you. I’m going to go in and join your conversation.”
As she spoke, she headed for Matthew’s office door.
As she reached the office door, her phone began to ring in her pocket. He pulled it out and saw that the caller ID was ‘Uncle’.
He stepped aside and went on to answer the phone. Before Oscar spoke, she took the initiative to ask, “Hey, Uncle, did something happen over there?”. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be calling her right now.
“Nothing serious. Everything is fine here. Someone came for custom-made clothes, but I told him that we already have a lot of orders, so if he was willing, he should wait a long time. To those who were not willing, I suggested they leave. The factory is running normally. You and Theresa have left so suddenly, and you have taken the children with you. I suppose something urgent must have happened. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be in such a hurry. I’m calling to remind you that no matter what has happened, please let me know if you have any difficulties. You must believe in your parents. What they left you was not just the treasure. Do you know what I mean?”.
Dolores glanced at the tip of her foot. “I see.”
“Good. How are the kids? I miss them so much.” Oscar had gotten used to them by now. When they left so suddenly, he always felt like his life was missing something.
“I’ll ask them to video call you tonight,” Dolores said.
“Okay, I have to go now,” Oscar said.
Dolores let out an “hmm.” After hanging up the phone, she froze for a moment. Oscar didn’t tell her anything about her father, but after being with Oscar for a long time, more or less, she could sense what kind of man her father was.
No matter what kind of man he was, she would remember what was mentioned in Jolene’s letter: he was a good man.
Adjusting her mood, she turned and headed for the office door. Raising her hand, she knocked on the door. A moment later, she was asked to enter.
Dolores straightened her back, pushed open the door and entered.
Matthew was sitting on the couch with his back to her, and Declan was sitting across from him. They didn’t touch the coffee in front of them. They seemed to be talking the whole time and didn’t stop until she walked in.
Seeing her, Declan looked a little uncomfortable for a while. With a smile, he said, “It’s good to see you again.”
Matthew slowly turned around. Seeing Dolores, he frowned slightly. He had never expected her to approach. He asked her gently, “Why are you here?”
She kept nothing from Declan. Since the latter had sent some pictures to Dolores, he felt that Declan must know who she was and her relationship with him.
Dolores walked over and smiled at him. “Can’t I come see you?” As she spoke, she sat down next to Matthew.
Declan licked his lips with interest. “Are you going to make public displays of affection in front of me, a stranger?”
“Is there a stranger here?” asked Dolores with a smile.
Declan burst out laughing. He looked at Matthew’s face and intentionally tried to embarrass him. He said deliberately, “Miss Flores, you mean you’ve never treated me like a stranger? I think we’re pretty close.”
He wondered if she still thanked him for ‘helping’ her in C-Town last time.
“Oh? I just didn’t realize you were here too.” Dolores was still smiling weakly.
“Ho ho. Miss Flores, how interesting! I’m sitting here right in front of you, how could you not have seen me, am I not a human?” Declan dropped his smile.
Dolores was still smiling. “You drew that conclusion yourself, Mr. Bailey. I didn’t make any comment, all right? Since you’ve admitted you’re not a human, I wouldn’t disagree with you.”
Declan’s expression stiffened for a moment. Then he regained his smile. “A sharp-tongued woman is not attractive to man. Be careful. Your man will leave you.”
“Mr. Bailey, please mind your own business.” Dolores moved her lips slightly. “Last time, when I met you in C-Town, I didn’t know you were Mr. Bailey, so I didn’t thank you. I got a gift from you, too. I appreciate your hard work.” She looked gently at Matthew, who was looking at her now. Their eyes met. Without any words, they could understand what was in each other’s minds.
With a smile, she asked, “Mr. Bailey sent us such a great gift, don’t you want to return one for the appreciation?”
Matthew reached up to brush aside the hair next to her ear and gently held it behind her. With a loving smile, he said, “Of course, I will. Courtesy demands the appropriate thanks, and so does sending a gift. It wouldn’t be so impolite.”
Matthew glanced at Declan. “Mr. Bailey, how do you like my gift?”
Declan squinted. “It was you who provoked me first.”
“Mr. Bailey, what are you talking about, didn’t you work with Jeffery Harris to kidnap someone first? Or, do you think the Nelson Family is easily intimidated and that anyone in the family could be kidnapped?” Matthew’s voice grew deeper, full of hidden anger.
“The woman I kidnapped was a member of the Nelson Family? Doesn’t everyone know that Victoria Forbis was her father’s mistress? Mr. Nelson, you don’t like your stepmother, do you? You are against me because of this unimportant person. What benefit would you have?”
