Chapter 669:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Matthew pulled out the chair for Dolores. After she sat down, he pulled out another one and sat down with Amanda in his arms.
Armand checked the time and said, “Boyce is putting the air on, isn’t he? He’s buying, but he’s late.”
“He’s probably late for something,” Dolores said. As far as she knew Boyce, he was always a punctual man.
“His girlfriend, who is she, hasn’t Jasmine Burke already left B-town? Dolores, do you know who his girlfriend is?” Armand remembered that Boyce had once ridden in a woman’s car. He wondered if that woman was Boyce’s girlfriend.
“Isn’t that Jasmine Burke?” asked Dolores.
Armand shook his head, “That girl has left town…”.
“I know who she is. I met her,” Amanda interrupted Armand and said knowingly. She was quite proud to have been the first of them all to meet Boyce’s girlfriend, even though she didn’t like that woman at all.
“Really?” asked Armand with a smile, “Is she beautiful?”.
Amanda thought for a moment, “Sort of.”
As beautiful as she was, her first impression was not good. She was anything but.
Amanda didn’t care at all about Wendy’s appearance. She just remembered that Wendy wasn’t good.
She couldn’t say exactly why Wendy was good, but she simply disliked that woman.
Just at that moment, two people entered the restaurant.
“It’s really inappropriate for us to be late. We’re buying.” Boyce looked a little annoyed. It seemed to him that Wendy was quite willful. It was almost time, but she insisted on going home and changing clothes. Hence, they were running late.

“You’re going to introduce me to your friends today. If I were indecent, I’d embarrass you, wouldn’t I?” Wendy knew it was bad to be late, but she was going to meet Boyce’s friends, so she wanted to show them her best face.
“If I was dirty and ugly, wouldn’t you be embarrassed if you introduced me to your friends?”
Boyce couldn’t win against her verbally. He said casually, “I only value character, not hypocritical appearance. You are who you are. You don’t need to worry about other people’s criticisms.”
Wendy pressed her lips together, “Are you angry?”
“No. It’s okay. Here we are.” Boyce wanted to stop arguing. He pushed open the box door and said with a smile, “Sorry. We’re late.”
Wendy was really beautiful. She was elegantly dressed. Taking Boyce’s arm, she said with a smile, “Sorry. There was traffic on the way. We’re late.”
Boyce frowned. Obviously, he didn’t expect her to lie.
They were late because she insisted on changing clothes. How could she lie about the traffic?
“Nothing’s wrong. Nothing.” Armand smiled, looking her up and down, raised his eyebrows slightly. Indeed, it was indeed that woman he had once seen.
Boyce introduced his friends to Wendy, “This is Armand Bernie, a friend of mine.”
Wendy smiled at Armand kindly, “Nice to meet you.” Armand nodded.
Amanda leaned against Matthew’s shoulder and whispered in his ear, “Dad, I don’t like this woman. She’s so nasty.”
Matthew gently caressed her and whispered, “Be polite.”
Amanda pouted and whispered, “I told the truth.”
“Dolores, this is Wendy Miller, my girlfriend,” Boyce led Wendy over to Dolores and introduced her.
“Nice to meet you,” Wendy said with a smile. She looked Dolores up and down. Pretending to give her a casual glance, she looked at Matthew who was sitting next to her.
Although Matthew didn’t speak, she noticed the man as soon as she entered the box.
She had never expected Boyce’s friends to be like this.
No doubt outstanding men befriended outstanding men. If he had known Boyce had friends like that, he would have taken it a long time ago.
Dolores smiled at him, “I’m pleased to meet you, too.”
Her first impression of Wendy wasn’t bad: she was beautiful and polite.
“We’ve been waiting for you for a long time. Come on. Don’t make us go hungry anymore.”
“Sure. Let’s sit down.” Wendy pulled Boyce to sit down.
Armand pulled out his phone and secretly took a picture of Boyce and Wendy. He sent it to Theresa.
Soon, Theresa sent him an emoji back with a surprised look. She asked, “Who is the woman next to Boyce?”
Armand replied, “Guess.”
Theresa: “Tell me or not, I don’t care.” She also sent an emoji with a proud face.
Armand smiled. He replied, “His girlfriend. He’s introducing her to us. If only you hadn’t left town. You could meet us tonight. How about I drive to C-town after dinner?”
“It’s already too late. Are you crazy?”
“I want to have breakfast with you tomorrow morning.”
Theresa stared at her phone. Although she was smiling, she replied in unfriendly words, “You’re crazy.” Armand smiled and put the phone away.
“I know some of the chef’s specialties at this restaurant. Do you guys avoid eating any food?” Wendy glanced at Dolores, “What’s your taste? I’ve heard that pregnant women are pretty picky.”
“I’m not picky. I’m fine with anything,” Dolores said.
“Okay, then I’ll order the dishes.” Wendy opened the menu.
Amanda interjected, “Auntie, you still haven’t asked me about my taste.”
Wendy’s expression stiffened for a moment. Immediately, she smiled at Amanda and asked, “What would you like to eat?”.
Amanda leaned against Matthew’s chest and said, “I don’t know what dishes are served at this restaurant, how would I order?”
Wendy understood and passed him the menu, “Take a look and tell me what you’d like to eat.”
She smiled amicably, but inside, she hated Amanda to death. She wondered why this girl was so hateful.
Inside she blamed Amanda.
Dolores frowned and patted her daughter, “You can’t be so rude. Watch your attitude when talking to Auntie.”
“It’s all right. She’s just a child.” Wendy was still elegant in appearance.
Actually, Amanda knew she shouldn’t have been so rude, but for some reason, she really disliked this woman. It was just like how much she liked Tiana. There was no reason.
She either liked or disliked others for no reason.
“Amy, order more plates. Uncle Boyce rarely invited us to dinner.” Armand winked at Amanda.
Amanda opened the menu and read it earnestly. She had only been in preschool for a few days, so she didn’t know how to read much. However, there were pictures on the menu, so she pointed to the dishes.
He smiled and inwardly praised the menu. Some restaurants don’t have menus with pictures, so he couldn’t order any dishes because he couldn’t read.
He ordered dishes as long as they were not spicy. At home she always ate light dishes, and her parents liked light dishes, so she chose those kinds of dishes.
As they waited for the dishes to be served, Armand asked, “Excuse me, Miss Miller?”
Wendy nodded with a smile.
“Is your father Officer Miller?” Armand finally understood something. Dolores and he had the same confusion, wondering how the woman had gotten Boyce to accept her.
Just then, he suddenly remembered that Boyce’s boss’s last name was also Miller. He wondered if this woman’s father was Officer Miller.
Boyce didn’t like to share with them what was going on at work.
Hence, Armand didn’t know much about it.
Wendy said with a smile, “Yes, he is.”
“What happened, are you married yet?” Armand remembered Boyce once mentioning that he had attended a wedding. Armand asked what wedding it was, and Boyce replied that it was that of his boss’s daughter.
Wendy’s expression changed dramatically.
“I got divorced.” Wendy put on a stiff smile, feeling rather uncomfortable at the question about her marital status. She stood up, “I’m going to go to the bathroom.”
As she spoke, she exited the box.
There were a few seconds of silence in the room. None of them expected her to be divorced.
Armand looked at Boyce, “Did she pursue you?” Boyce nodded.
The next second, Armand lost his temper. He didn’t discriminate against Wendy for being a divorced woman. Instead, he knew Boyce had always respected his boss.
If Officer Miller mentioned it to him, Boyce would probably say yes to save Officer Miller’s dignity.
Earlier, Boyce was quite upset that Jasmine had suddenly left him. Later, he claimed that Wendy was his girlfriend. It was obviously weird.
“You guys don’t fit together,” Armand said directly.
Boyce said expressionlessly, “I don’t think so.”
Armand didn’t answer, staring at him.
Under his gaze, Boyce felt rather uncomfortable, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Armand snorted, “You’re like a big fish that’s been caught!”.
