Chapter 866:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Boyce didn’t know what had happened either. He rushed to tell Matthew after receiving a call from Jasmine.
He was quite anxious at this point.
“We can’t waste time, let’s go back right now,” Boyce said.

“What happened?” Dolores just knew something was up, she didn’t hear what Boyce whispered to Matthew.
“We’ll go back first,” Matthew said.
Dolores nodded. Her face was pale and she looked tired. In the last few days after Jayden’s death, she hadn’t eaten well or rested properly. She looked awful.
It was raining and the ground was slippery. As she was walking down the stairs, she lost her footing and nearly fell. Luckily, Matthew noticed and quickly caught her. He managed to save her from falling. Dolores panicked. She was fainting, “I’m fine.” She said as she rubbed her temple.
Matthew held her by the waist. They walked out of the cemetery. He opened the car door and helped her into the car; he also got the children into the car.
“Armand, Theresa.”
Matthew looked at them and said, “Can you take them to the mansion?”
“Where are you going?” asked Dolores as she rolled down the window.
“I have something to do with Boyce,” Matthew said calmly, “I’m worried the memories will resurface if you guys head home right now. Let’s stay at the mansion for at least two days for now.”
Dolores said, “But Joshua is still at home. I’m worried.” She wanted to go back.
Matthew clenched his fist and his emotions boiled over. Although, it didn’t show on his face at all, “Let’s stay at the mansion today.”
Dolores didn’t have a chance to say no, as Matthew quickly continued, “Take the children home and get a good night’s rest. Theresa, please take care of them.”
“Don’t worry,” Theresa said as she got into the car.
Armand said, “What do you need to do? I can go with you…”
“You should go to the mansion, too.” Matthew was concerned about leaving the women and children alone at the mansion. Therefore, he had Armand go with them.
Armand said, “Okay then.”
When they left, Matthew and Boyce hurried home.
Jasmine was so worried that she was crying.
She paced back and forth in the living room.
She quickly ran to them when she saw them. She kept apologizing, “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry…”
“Leave the apologies for now. Tell us, how did Joshua disappear?” Boyce reached out and wiped the tears from her face.
“I was watching Joshua upstairs the whole time, he was the only one there. About an hour ago, I went downstairs to get a glass of water. When I came back to the room, Joshua was gone,” Jasmine said worriedly.
“Think about it, are you sure no one came in during that time?” asked Boyce.
He thought Jasmine might be too anxious and forget about any suspicious people she had seen.
Jasmine was very distressed. She had been told to take care of Joshua and now he was missing. It was her responsibility to take care of the baby.
What if they couldn’t find the baby, how could she face Matthew and Dolores?
“No, no…” Jasmine confirmed that she hadn’t seen anyone suspicious.
Matthew looked at Jasmine and knew his head was probably in knots right now. He knew he wouldn’t be able to get any answers from her right now and so he headed for the study room. There was a surveillance camera at the front of the house, he should be able to see if anyone came in.
He turned on the computer and the screen was black. The surveillance camera was destroyed.
Boyce was standing next to it, he realized something immediately, “It’s probably someone we know.” There was only one camera, but it was in a fairly hidden location. One shouldn’t be able to notice it unless they were in and out of the house very often, “Matthew, I’m sorry.”
Jasmine was his wife. The baby was missing and it was his responsibility.
Matthew squinted and stared at the black screen. He ignored Boyce and tried to think. Benjamin was at the funeral today. Because of the funeral, Matthew wasn’t home. And now, the baby was missing. He suspected Benjamin had something to do with this.
She pulled out her phone and was about to call someone. Then, Jasmine suddenly entered the room.
“Around the afternoon, the driver came and took a look at Joshua.”
Before this, she didn’t think too much of the driver since he had worked for Matthew for a long time. She thought he would be trustworthy if Matthew trusted him. But she thought about it and realized it was strange for him to go upstairs.
Matthew was holding his phone, his hand trembling. He asked, “When?”
“Today,” Jasmine tried to remember, “About two o’clock this afternoon. He said it was you who asked him to come take a look.”
Matthew didn’t order anyone to come take a look at Joshua.
“I’ll go get him.” The chauffeur was always at Matthew’s side, he was Matthew’s driver and bodyguard. He was extremely suspicious at the moment.
Boyce’s face became stern: “I’ll kill him if it’s really him!”.
It was the first time Jasmine had seen Boyce enraged. She swallowed her saliva in fear.
Matthew didn’t stop him. Indeed, they had to find this person, to have more clues about this matter.
Boyce headed for the door and suddenly, he saw the driver walking towards him. Boyce was surprised, if it was really him, how could he still have the guts to come here?
“I want to see Mr. Nelson,” the driver said as he stopped in front of Boyce.
Boyce didn’t respond, he led the driver into the study room.
The door to the study room was not closed all the way, it was slightly open. Boyce opened the door without knocking. Matthew was talking on the phone, he looked up when he heard noises.
He made a disgusted face when he saw the driver.
“We’re both from the Nelson Family. My grandfather and your grandfather shared the same mother. Why should you have 80% of the shares of the WY Group and I only have 20%? If you love your son, it’s easy. Just give me your shares and I’ll give you your son back.”
Benjamin never dared to do any tricks back then because he was afraid of Jayden. People tried to force him but he never dared to imagine it. But now, things had changed. Jayden was dead!
“I’ll give him to you,” Matthew didn’t even hesitate.
To him, his son was more important than anything.
“Okay, I’ll give you a day to get ready. I’ll see you tomorrow night.”
Matthew hung up the phone.
As Boyce stepped outside, his phone rang. It was exactly what Matthew suspected.
It was Benjamin.
“Mr. Nelson.” The driver knelt down in front of the table. He was crying uncontrollably, “I had no choice, they kidnapped my wife and threatened me. If I didn’t do what they say, I would lose my wife and child.”
He thought he could use the baby to change the lives of his wife and child. He decided to run away, hide or go as far away as possible after that. But he didn’t. He came back to confess to Matthew.
Matthew was the one who gave him a chance when he was in abjection. Thanks to Matthew, he didn’t have to worry about a roof over his head or his next meal. Thanks to Matthew, he and his wife were able to raise a family in this great city. He was grateful, but he had no choice because he was threatened with his family’s life.
Matthew only put people he trusted to work in his house. He never treated him badly and always gave him many job benefits.
Now that he had betrayed Matthew, he expected nothing but Matthew’s anger and resentment.
“Why didn’t you tell me you had been threatened?” Matthew said sternly, “You think I’m going to let it go?”
“I…I didn’t dare tell. If I told you, I’d kill my wife and child.” The driver bowed to Matthew.
Matthew asked quietly, “Did I call you the day my father died?”
“Yes.” The driver didn’t even dare raise his head. “He told me to keep an eye on you and to let him know immediately if anything happened.”
