Chapter 1483:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“It was the President’s decision for me to come back and step in as mayor,” Paxton added quietly.
For a long moment, Prudencia said nothing. When the truth finally settled over her, her expression shifted — a pout forming, her brow furrowing. “So you were all out there doing important, meaningful things, while I just wandered around thinking we were both equally clueless…”
Tears slid down her cheeks as the words left her. “I’m just dead weight. The disappointment of the family.”
Paxton moved quickly to reassure her. “That’s not true. To Mom and Dad, you’ve always been their most precious one. Everything we work for is to give you a life where you’re free — free to choose your own path and do whatever brings you joy.”
His words didn’t slow the tears. Out of options, Paxton picked up his phone and called Nichol.
When Nichol walked into the study, he found Prudencia curled up on the sofa with her shoulders shaking, while Paxton hovered nearby looking entirely lost. Nichol sat beside her and gave her back a gentle pat. “Hey — what’s all this, my little tear machine?”
Prudencia flung herself into his arms, her cheeks wet. “Nichol, I feel so completely hopeless. My brother is out there accomplishing extraordinary things, and you’re capable of so much — but me? I’m just nothing special at all.”

Nichol brushed her tears away and smiled warmly. “Don’t say that. You’re full of life, and you have a spirit that brightens everyone around you. That in itself is a gift. And you pick things up faster than anyone — there’s nothing you can’t learn if you set your mind to it.”
Hope flickered in Prudencia’s eyes. “You really mean that?”
“Absolutely,” Nichol said without hesitation. “Whatever you want to pursue — business, anything else — I’m right behind you.”
That was all she needed. Prudencia wiped her tears, straightened up, and pumped her fists with fresh resolve. “I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to give everything I have. Just watch — I’ll become every bit as accomplished as Paxton. Maybe I’ll be mayor too one day!”
Paxton couldn’t hold back a chuckle. That girl could reverse course in a heartbeat.
Nichol kept a straight face and gently messed up her hair. “I have no doubt you’ll pull it off.”
From that day forward, Prudencia threw herself into self-improvement with a conviction no one could question. She dug into the workings of Knight Group, made regular appearances at Paxton’s office, and absorbed everything she could. She didn’t understand it all at once, but her enthusiasm and determination were impossible to overlook. Whenever she hit a wall, Nichol was there — patient and steady, guiding her through each step.
Half a year later, an announcement from the presidential residence shook the entire country. President Miguel Williamson, citing health reasons, stepped down from office, and his son Nichol was sworn in as the new President. At just twenty-five, Nichol became the youngest leader in Swirdon’s history.
