Chapter 503:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Leo.”
Sara walked over to Leo and looked at him, “Are you done?”.
Leo looked at Juliet and Yayoi and nodded, “Yes, we’re done.”
“Where’s Maddox?”
She looked over her shoulder into the living room and frowned.
“Grandpa’s talking to him.”
Payton replied. She looked at Yayoi with a trace of pity.
“The situation may not be good. You should be prepared.”
“What do you mean?”
Juliet pinched her arm in discontent.
Payton exclaimed in pain and hastened to explain, “The doctor said Grandpa’s condition isn’t very good. He may not have much time left.”

Juliet was dumbfounded, “How can that be?”
Neither of them had expected it to be so serious.
Sara looked worriedly at the silent Yayoi and asked Payton, “Did Grandpa say anything?”
“He said…”. Payton looked at Yayoi with some hesitation. “He wants to…”.
This got on Juliet’s nerves. “Spit it out!” She said.
Payton gritted her teeth and said, “Grandpa wants Maddox and Wendy to get married while he’s alive.”
Everyone fell into stony silence at this.
After a while, Juliet cursed and said indignantly, “Doesn’t he go too far? How can he threaten his grandson like that? Is his grandson’s happiness any less important than this so-called promise?”
Payton shrugged helplessly, “Unfortunately, Grandpa holds friendship and promise in very high regard.”
Sara frowned, “Leo, isn’t there anything we can do?”
Leo looked at her apologetically.
“Sara, there were some things we couldn’t control. I can’t say anything under the circumstances.”
“But…”
Sara bit her lip, unwilling to leave it at that.
Everyone fell silent again with a shrinking heart, except for Yayoi.
She laughed softly.
The others turned to look at her.
“Yayoi…”
Sara and Juliet looked at her with concern.
Yayoi stared at the closed hospital door. She was only one door away from Maddox, but at that moment she felt him so far away.
She sketched a weak smile and murmured, “It’s not a good ending, after all.”
“Yayoi, don’t think like that. As long as it’s not decided, everything can change.”
Sara reached over to hug her by the shoulder and comforted her.
“It’s true. That’s just what Old Master Shen said. Maddox didn’t agree.” Juliet agreed.
Yayoi smiled bitterly and lowered her head.
He was Maddox’s grandfather, her closest relative. Was he going to do that for her?
They loved each other, but if love hurt their family, she’d rather give him up.
Because she didn’t want him to carry the stigma of not being related and spend the rest of his life regretting it.
Maddox didn’t look well when he left the room.
“Maddox.” Sara looked at him worriedly.
Maddox forced a smile.
Then his gaze fell on Yayoi, who had her head down.
There was complicated emotion in her eyes.
He said softly, “Yayoi.”
Yayoi knew he had gone out, but she dared not look up at him, fearing that as soon as she saw him, she would burst into tears.
Just hearing his soft voice, she felt a lump in her throat with sadness. Her beautiful lips twitched into a forced smile.
“Yes, here I am.”
“Leo, Sara, first I want to take Yayoi home.”
Maddox turned to look at the couple.
Sara knew they were going to talk about this.
She nodded and said, “You guys go home first. We’ll go home later.”
Maddox grabbed Yayoi by the hand and led her to the elevator.
“Maddox!” Sara called out suddenly.
Seeing Maddox and Yayoi turn around, she continued, “Maddox, whatever happens, remember we’re here for you.”
A sincere smile gradually appeared on Maddox’s face. He was touched by her words.
Then, he squeezed Yayoi’s hand tightly and moved forward with a faint smile.
Sara’s words were like a warm spring breeze that blew into his foggy heart.
In an instant, the mist dissipated.
He knew what he had to do.
Watching them enter the elevator, Sara pursed her lips and looked back at Leo.
“Leo, do I have to go in to visit Grandpa?”
“Do you want to go in?” asked Leo.
Sara raised her eyebrows and said, “As a courtesy, since I’m here, I should visit him.”
Leo smiled, “Then let’s go in together.”
Sara nodded and turned to look at Juliet. “Juliet, do you want to come with me?”.
Juliet shook her head like crazy and refused, “No. Hell, no.”
She and Payton were just dating. She wasn’t getting ready to see her family. And she didn’t want to meet the Shens.
Payton hugged Juliet and said with a smile, “Sara, forgive us. Juliet and I will come back first, too.”
“Okay.”
Since Juliet wasn’t willing to go in, they wouldn’t force her.
Sara followed Leo into the living room.
Aside from Wendy and Edith, whom she had met earlier, there were Old Master Shen and Maddox’s older brother Matt.
Old Master Shen was sitting against the pillow.
He had white hair and a face full of wrinkles.
His deep-set, bright eyes showed that he was in a good mood.
Edith was surprised when she saw Leo bringing Sara.
But she quickly calmed down, looking at Sara silently.
Matt was confused to see his cousin Leo bringing a woman, and asked, “Leo, who is she?”
“That’s my wife, Sara.”
Leo looked at him without any emotion.
Edith and Matt were dumbfounded at his response.
Good heavens!
The man who was as cold as stone, Leo was really married!!!!
Wendy, who was sitting next to the bed, was also surprised.
She never thought that Yayoi’s friend would be Leo’s wife.
“When did you get married, Leo?”
Old Master Shen was surprised instead.
Looking at his grandfather, Leo’s indifferent expression turned kind.
“It’s been a while. I forgot to tell you about it. I’d like to take this opportunity and bring Sara to visit you.”
Old Master Shen looked at Sara, who was standing next to Leo and revealed a satisfied smile.
“What a pretty girl. No wonder you liked her and even married her.”
Old Master Shen was not a serious old man as Sara had imagined.
To her surprise, he seemed kind and benevolent.
Sara could not understand why such a kind person would be so cruel to her grandson.
She walked over and greeted him, “Grandfather.”
Old Master Shen grinned from ear to ear.
“Come here, child. Let me take a look.”
Following his words, Sara approached.
The old man watched her carefully.
The more he looked at her, the more he liked her.
He looked at Leo and said, “Leo, the girl has wonderful facial features. They make a perfect couple.”
Old Master Shen had always worried that his ever-cool grandson was celibate.
But now, it seemed he had found the one.
Leo reached over and took Sara’s hand. He smiled and teased the old man, “Grandpa, when did you become an expert in Physiognomy?”.
Old Master Shen looked at him with narrowed eyes, “Grandpa didn’t know anything about Physiognomy. But I have lived so many years that I have my way of judging people’s character. For example…”
He frowned and thought, “Maddox’s girlfriend, the Song girl? What was her name? Never mind. She seemed mean, completely unsuitable for Maddox.”
Hearing this, Sara frowned. Just as she was about to speak up to defend her friend, her hand was suddenly squeezed.
She turned to look at the man next to her and saw him gently shake his head.
She bit her lip and swallowed her words.
“Grandfather, isn’t it too rash to give such an appraisal on appearance alone?” asked Leo earnestly.
The old man snorted coldly, “Without good looks, how could he have a better character?”
This was nothing but belittling Yayoi.
Sara couldn’t stand it and asked, “Do you know Maddox’s girlfriend?”.
She stared at Old Master Shen, wondering how he could say such hurtful words without knowing anything about the person.
“Sara, I don’t need to know who Maddox’s girlfriend is, nor do I want to know.”
Sara scoffed, “If you don’t want to know anything about Maddox’s girlfriend, what makes you say she’s a mean girl? How can you say she’s no good on the inside?”
“How can you talk with that attitude?” Matt let out a dissatisfied voice.
“Are you questioning me now?” Old Master Shen frowned.
“No, I’m just asking.” Sara looked at him calmly.
Leo remained silent.
He looked at Sara calmly and believed that she could deal with his grandfather.
“You’re just asking me?” Old Master Shen chuckled and then stared at her.
“What is your relationship with Maddox’s girlfriend?”
“She’s my friend.” Sara replied.
Old Master Shen nodded.
“I see. So, do you want to be a lobbyist?”
“No, I just want to ask some questions.”
“If your question is about that woman, then you don’t have to ask me.” Old Master Shen didn’t want to talk about it anymore and said, “Leo, you can go home. I am tired and need to rest.”
How could Sara let this go?
She had to do something for Yayoi today.
She took a deep breath and said directly, “Sir, you should try to get to know Yayoi. You’ll see that she’s a very nice girl. To be honest, she is really a beautiful, filial and kind girl.”
“I can judge what she’s like by myself. You don’t need to say so.” The old man was a little angry.
Sara didn’t feel the slightest fear. “Grandfather, you have to get close to someone before you know whether she’s good or bad. How can you tell her character just by looking at her?”
“Leo, get her out of here!”
Old Master Shen completely lost the joy he had when he first saw Sara.
Leo frowned slightly and said on Sara’s behalf, “Grandfather, Sara was right. Maddox is a grown man. He has the right to choose his own life, so I hope Grandpa can think about it.”
Then he turned to Sara and said, “Sara, let’s go.”
Sara knew the old man was stubborn and that she might not be able to convince him for a while.
“Let’s go back.”
Sara nodded politely to the grumpy old man before leaving with Leo.
When they left, Wendy, who had been quiet the whole time, said, “Grandpa, don’t be angry. Leo and Sara didn’t mean those things.”
Old Master Shen looked sullen, “They said it on purpose. They are trying to annoy me.”
“Grandfather, you know that Maddox has been close to Leo since he was young. He must have asked Leo to talk him into it.”
Matt analyzed.
Old Master Shen snorted heavily.
“That brat knows that only Leo can persuade me.”
Hearing this, Wendy became anxious, “Grandfather, what do you mean by this is… Are you going to listen to Leo and Sara?”
Old Master Shen saw her panic and laughed, “Wendy, don’t worry. Grandpa’s not that old yet, how could he listen to them?”.
Wendy let out a sigh of relief and smiled.
“Grandpa, do you think Maddox will give in this time?” asked Matt.
“He has no choice but to compromise, unless he really wants to see me die of rage.”
This time, Old Master Shen was determined to let that brat Maddox marry Wendy.
“Grandpa is really stubborn.”
Sara sighed helplessly and turned to look at the passing scenery through the car window.
A faint worry creased between her brows.
“If this were about something else, there might be room for change, but it’s about Maddox and Wendy’s marriage. I’m afraid it’s hard to convince him.”
Leo also felt somewhat helpless.
Sara turned to look at him, “What do we do now, do Maddox and Yayoi have to break it off between them?”
Maddox and Yayoi had already registered their marriage and even already had a child. Happy life is just around the corner.
How could such an unhappy problem not be resolved smoothly?
“There might be another way.”
As things stood, Leo could only say this.
Sara sighed heavily, “I’m afraid Yayoi won’t be able to wait.”
Yayoi had already thought about breaking up with Maddox, so she might as well bring it up.
This way, things would become even more complicated.
“Then you have to persuade her. As long as they stay firmly together, I think Grandpa won’t be able to separate them.”
Leo wanted to take this risk.
He believed that the grandfather he knew would not be so stubborn as to be unreasonable. There would always be a day when his heart would soften.
“Okay.”
Sara sighed again.
