Chapter 1102:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
From what Belinda had told her about their past, her feelings for him had always been one-sided.
To Mathew, she was likely just another acquaintance — a familiar face in the crowd or, at best, a trusted colleague.
Her erratic behavior probably didn’t matter to him because she didn’t matter to him. But still…
She closed her eyes, and the memory came rushing back — the day outside the wedding venue. She and Farley, standing before Mathew.
Her firm rejection and the way the man stared at her with heavy disappointment.
The memory made her stomach twist. If she could, she’d bury herself under the bed just to avoid facing him now.
“Try to calm down,” Belinda said softly, watching her struggle. She could see the frustration and confusion on her face.
She placed a comforting hand on Madisyn’s shoulder. “I’ll head downstairs and explain everything to your parents — about Mr. Sampson and the reason for your memory loss. They’ll understand.”
She sighed. “Even if it all sounds… unusual and impossible.”
Madisyn nodded wordlessly, biting her bottom lip as she sank onto the edge of her bed. Her thoughts were a tangled mess, spiraling in every direction.
“And…” Belinda paused at the doorway to glance back. “If you really don’t feel ready to face him, you can stay here. Your parents and I will talk to him. You can listen from upstairs, and if there’s anything you want me to say, just message me. I’ll be your voice. How does that sound?”
Madisyn looked up, gratitude softening her troubled features. “Thank you, Belinda. My parents were right. You’re the best person in my life, next to them.”
Belinda froze for a fraction of a second, her hand hovering over the doorknob. A flicker of something unreadable passed across her face before she forced a bittersweet smile. “It’s… not even close to sufficient.”
Her kindness to Madisyn felt small compared to what Madisyn had done for her in the past.

Without another word, she slipped downstairs. She found Wyatt and Ethel in the living room and launched into an explanation about Mathew’s connection to their daughter and why the man was visiting.
Then the low rumble of an approaching car engine broke the quiet. Mathew had arrived.
Wyatt was the first to break the silence.
He adjusted his tie, straightening it carefully, before clearing his throat and stepping forward to open the door, greeting Mathew with a warm smile. “You must be Mr. Sampson?”
“Yes, my pleasure to see you, Mr. Thomas,” Mathew replied, extending his hands to pass over the gift boxes he had been carrying.
The sight of Mathew personally delivering the gifts without the help of his bodyguards or assistants made Belinda realize that his visit was spontaneous and urgent.
Yet, even in such a rush, he hadn’t forgotten his manners. His thoughtful gesture of bringing gifts for Madisyn’s parents spoke volumes about his meticulous and considerate nature.
“You are too kind, Mr. Sampson,” Wyatt said with a smile, accepting the gifts and passing them to a nearby servant.
Holding Belinda’s hand, Ethel stepped forward with a welcoming smile. “Mr. Sampson, don’t just stand there in the doorway. Please, come in and make yourself comfortable.”
