Chapter 1104:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Even though her memories were gone, even though she no longer remembered the depth of her feelings for Mathew… Why did her heart ache so violently when she heard him reduce their relationship to something so simple? Was it possible that even without remembering him, she couldn’t let him go?
“Mr. Sampson, we understand your perspective,” Wyatt said, his tone firm and his expression serious. “But my wife and I both agree this isn’t your fault. You have been straightforward and transparent, and your relationship with Madisyn has been entirely normal. We know you never intended for any misunderstanding. The ones who schemed against you acted out of their own misguided assumptions. It wasn’t your fault, and you certainly didn’t direct them to target Madisyn. We hold no grudge against you.”
Wyatt’s calm yet earnest words caught Mathew off guard.
Madisyn was their beloved daughter, the light of their lives.
If anyone had the right to be furious, it was her parents. Their hearts should have been shattered by what had unfolded.
Yet, after hearing the full story, instead of blaming him for implicating their daughter, they had calmly assessed the situation and pointed the finger at Farley as the real instigator.
Mathew found their understanding and reasonableness to be completely unexpected.
Or rather, in nearly three decades of life, he had never met people like them. When he was growing up, his mother had been harsh and quick to find fault in everything he did.
On the other hand, his father barely acknowledged his existence unless it was to dole out scathing criticism or punishment for a mistake. The people he met in his career were even more self-serving.
When he stepped into this meeting, Mathew had steeled himself for a storm of accusations, angry words, or even the possibility of a physical altercation.
But to his surprise…

“However, Mr. Sampson,” Wyatt said, breaking Mathew’s train of thought. “We need to face the fact — this situation began with you. So, we believe it’s only fair that you take responsibility for Madisyn.”
“Responsibility?”
A moment of silence settled over the living room before Mathew broke it with a determined declaration. He said in a deep, steady voice, “Alright, I will marry her.”
That single sentence left everyone stunned. Wyatt and Ethel stared at him in disbelief while Belinda froze. Upstairs, Madisyn, who had been eavesdropping, jolted in shock. She nearly lost her footing on the stairs but grabbed the railing just in time to avoid a humiliating fall.
Despite her efforts to remain unnoticed, the loud thud of her stumble echoed downstairs, catching everyone’s attention.
Mathew’s brow arched, his piercing gaze shifting toward the staircase.
Wyatt and Ethel exchanged uneasy glances, hurriedly concocting an excuse. “Perhaps it’s the cat upstairs making a fuss,” Ethel stammered awkwardly.
She quickly turned to Lucille and said, “Go upstairs and check if our cat is hurt.”
Lucille blinked in confusion. “Mrs. Thomas, since when did we have a cat?” Her innocent question only deepened the awkwardness in the room.
Mathew turned to Ethel, whose face flushed as she snapped, “I just bought the cat today! It’s new! That noise must have been the cat falling. Go check!”
Realizing her misstep, Lucille scrambled to catch on. “Ah, yes! The new red cat. I’ll go check immediately!”
With that, Lucille hurried upstairs, leaving Ethel to recover from embarrassment.
Mathew smirked faintly, his amusement evident. “Mrs. Thomas, I hope your cat is alright.”
