Chapter 367:

“It’s a beautiful house, and I love the design too,” I nodded. “Would you love to live there someday?” he continued.
My face scrunched in confusion. “Why are you asking me that?”
He scratched the back of his head. “I’m thinking of buying the house for us. I don’t want us to live in this apartment when we get married.”
“There’s nothing wrong with this place,” I shrugged as I looked around the room.

“Come on, Leah, this place is too small to raise a family,” he chuckled. “Look at this house, it has everything. I can imagine myself chasing our kids across the hallway when they refuse to put their clothes on.”
A smile spread across my face as I glanced at the house and pictured the image in my head, but I quickly shook it off.
“About that, there’s something you need to know,” I started, and he turned to me, giving me his full attention. “I don’t think I’m ready to have kids when we get married. It’s going to get in the way of my job.”
“That shouldn’t be a problem. You can take a few years off after we get married and have as many babies as we want. Then, you can work on getting your body back, and you’ll go back to work like you never left.”
“I know my body better than you do. It’s not as easy as you think,” I replied.
“Think it is,” I complained.
“It is. Why are you trying to complicate the whole thing?” He sighed before pausing and looking into my eyes. “Are you implying that you don’t want to have any kids until you’re ready to stop modeling?”
I broke eye contact, giving him an obvious answer.
“Really?” He raised his eyebrows at me before leaning back in his chair. “How long is that going to take? Five years? Six years? Oh, wait, ten years?”
“I haven’t decided that yet, but I’m sure it’s not anytime soon,” I replied, looking everywhere but at him.
“So it’s indefinite, then.” He ran his fingers through his hair.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he mumbled to himself before standing up and leaving the living room.
I buried my face in my hands and sighed. I knew he wasn’t going to take it lightly. Asher was a lover of kids. I’d seen it countless times when he was with Dylan and other kids in the apartment building.
It was because of that reason that I couldn’t muster up the courage to tell him until now. I wouldn’t be surprised, nor would I blame him, if he decided to call off our engagement because of it.
The next day, Asher and I drove to the airport to catch our flight to Spain that morning. Rhea had planned a surprise birthday party for Estefan because he hadn’t even remembered that his birthday was approaching due to all the drama they’d gone through in the past weeks.
Asher didn’t say a word to me the entire ride. When we boarded the plane, he put on his headphones and began watching movies on his laptop.
I wanted him to say something, even if his words were going to hurt me, because the silence was killing me more.
When we arrived at Rhea’s house, a huge smile spread across his face as he opened his arms to hug Rhea. The smile was so real that I couldn’t tell if it was genuine or if he was faking it.
The other members of the royal family were present, and I watched as Asher interacted with them, helping them decorate with excitement in his eyes.
I had been noticing the closeness between him and Rhea since we returned from Spain after the court hearing. They would spend hours talking on the phone, laughing at each other’s silly jokes. Even right in front of me, they were so close that I would have believed they were seeing each other if I didn’t know better.
