Shane Hayes and I had been married for almost two years, during which time he had never shown much sexual desire.
And since I’d found out I was pregnant earlier in the year, he hadn’t touched me at all, saying he was afraid of hurting the baby. He had even moved into his studio apartment and slept in the small bed he had.
I was only twenty-six, married and pregnant, but I had to sleep alone every night. I was lonely and miserable.
Bored out of my mind, I ended up going online and asking around on certain forums. One comment in particular piqued my interest. Someone said that maybe his lack of interest was because he had already seen too many women’s bodies.
Shane was an obstetrician by profession, so this made sense.
But there was one little detail that kept running through my head.
He always locked the door whenever he stayed in his studio. We were the only people in this house. Why would he have to lock the door? Was he hiding something from me?
I had been thinking about this a lot, until it became my biggest concern. It bothered me so much that it began to disrupt my daily life.
Finally, on our wedding anniversary, I couldn’t take it anymore and decided to sneak into his study after he left for work.
The room was simple and clean. There didn’t seem to be anything unusual, except for the large drawer in his desk. It was locked.
Fortunately, I had a spare key to this drawer, unbeknownst to my husband.
Not that I wanted to invade his privacy, but I had ordered a copy out of consideration for him. If he ever lost his key, at least I had a spare.
I quickly opened the drawer, but only found some office supplies. Nothing out of the ordinary. I breathed a sigh of relief and closed it again. My business was done.
As I walked past her bed on my way to the door, my eyes inadvertently swept the pillow. I stopped dead in my tracks.
On it were two strands of curly red hair.
I was a brunette and rarely went into her studio. There was no way that was my hair.
