Chapter 1248:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Flossie!” Levy couldn’t help but gasp.
Her words hit him like a dagger.
Flossie looked at him in confusion, wondering why he suddenly seemed so upset.
Just then, some early morning joggers passed by, probably wondering why these two were arguing in the street at such an early hour. The large black dog, Coal Ball, was still lying at their feet, as quiet as a mouse.
Levy took a deep breath, trying hard to keep his emotions in check.
“Flossie, why don’t we go somewhere more private so we can talk more freely?” he finally suggested.
But Flossie shook her head in refusal. “We’ve already said everything that needs to be said. We are done, Levy.”
“But I never agreed to a breakup!” Levy blurted out, his voice filled with pain.
Flossie’s face only hardened.
“You didn’t agree?” she asked in confusion. “Why? Cara is back. What more is there to say? I’m not interested in acting as the third wheel in your relationship.”
Levy almost laughed in frustration when he heard this.
“Cara and I are done,” he sighed. “You know this! You know we broke up a long time ago!”
“Well, now, you and I are done too!” Flossie shot back, her voice rising in frustration.
Passersby glanced at them, wondering what their argument was about.
“Flossie, are you and your boyfriend fighting?” an elderly woman walking past asked in concern.
Flossie had been coming here since she was a child, so many of the elders knew her well.
“Good morning!” she called out to the woman with an awkward smile. The woman waved in response and cast a quick glance at Levy but said nothing further as she walked away.
Flossie shot Levy a glare and began walking toward her home without saying another word.

Levy promptly followed her.
Coal Ball occasionally looked back at Levy, growling as if warning him to back off.
When Flossie finally reached her front door, she turned to face Levy.
“Levy, what more do I need to explain to you?” she asked in frustration. Levy understood everything. The problem was, he just didn’t want to accept it.
Flossie could see the reluctance in his eyes. She opened the door and walked in before shutting it behind her, leaving him standing outside.
He could stay out there as long as he wanted. She didn’t care anymore.
After she shut the door in his face, Levy let out a bitter, helpless laugh.
He never thought he would be the one standing outside someone’s door, waiting in vain, just like his ex-girlfriends had once waited for him outside his office.
He couldn’t help but think of an old saying: What goes around, comes around.
“Your eyes have recovered significantly, so you can now be discharged from the hospital,” the doctor said as he concluded the eye exam and placed an eye shield over Ellie’s eyes. “After the corneal transplant, it’ll take about two months before you can fully regain your vision. By next week, you should start seeing things.”
Ellie was very happy to hear this. She grabbed Kaiden’s hand and said ecstatically, “I’ll finally be able to see Eddie!”
