Chapter 1249:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“And what about me?” Kaiden grumbled.
“Huh?” Ellie asked, confused.
“You’re not looking forward to seeing me?” Kaiden asked, gently squeezing the back of her neck, like someone petting a beloved kitten.
Ellie broke into awkward laughter and immediately tried to placate him. “You’re always with me, you know, so the first person I see when I open my eyes will be you!”
“Isn’t that right, darling?” she added softly, whispering in his ear.
The sweet and gentle way she said the word “darling” made Kaiden’s body tremble. His grip on her hand tightened, as if he were struggling to hold himself back.
Seeing the interaction between the two, the Lamberts couldn’t help but smile.
“Kaiden, help her up. We’ll carry Eddie,” Glenn called out to the couple.
Ellie was startled by their presence, and her ears turned red in embarrassment. “Glenn… you guys have been here?”
She had thought that only she and Kaiden were in the room, apart from the doctor, which was why she had been so bold just now.
But the Lamberts pretended as if they hadn’t heard anything. One of them headed off to start the discharge process while another went to fetch the baby, and the third stayed behind.
Shortly after, they all returned to Moon Manor together.
Cayson had arranged everything as expected. Glenn exchanged a few words with him before going to have lunch with the others. After lunch, the Lamberts left.
It wasn’t long before Edward started crying. It was a loud, piercing wail.
During previous visits, Ellie had always found Edward to be well-behaved. This was the first time she had heard him cry so loudly, and it made her incredibly anxious.
“Don’t worry, Mrs. Thorpe. The little one just needs a diaper change,” the nanny assured her.
Babies often cry when they feel uncomfortable. Once the diaper was changed, Edward became quiet and calm.

Ellie let out a sigh of relief and asked one of the maids to help her to the bathroom. She couldn’t stand being disheveled anymore.
But as soon as she stepped into the tub, she noticed that the hands supporting her had changed. The touch was different.
“Kaiden?” she asked.
“Yeah,” Kaiden replied, his hands steadying her. “Take it slow.”
Still recovering from surgery, Ellie was cautious about making any sudden movements.
As soon as she sank into the water, she instinctively covered her stomach with her hands.
“What’s wrong?” Kaiden asked.
“I’m afraid I look terrible,” Ellie said. “My scar is ugly, and now I’ve put on extra weight. Call the maid back!”
Kaiden was confused. He looked at her belly and noticed it was just slightly rounder than usual—not what he would consider “extra weight.”
As far as he was concerned, she looked as adorable as always.
With his hands on her waist, Ellie sat up slightly. At that moment, Kaiden leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on her stomach.
“You look perfect. You always do,” he said to her. “Once you can see again, you’ll realize just how beautiful you are.
