Ellie was surprised when she got a call from Flossie. She was even more surprised after hearing what Flossie had to say.

“What’s wrong?” Kaiden asked when he noticed Ellie’s distressed mood.

“Call Levy. Ask him to come back,” Ellie said without any explanation.

“What? Why?” Kaiden asked, surprised by the request.

“Flossie said that Levy has been outside her door for a whole day. The neighbors are already starting to gossip,” Ellie clarified. If Flossie had had any other choice, Ellie was sure she wouldn’t have called.

“Okay, I’ll call him,” Kaiden promised.

“She’s talking about her home in Jairta,” Ellie reminded him.

When Kaiden heard this, he fell into thoughtful silence. After a moment, he said, “That’s between the two of them. I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to interfere.”

The truth was that Kaiden wanted to take his friend’s side, which was why he had decided not to get involved in the first place. The fact that Levy had gone to Jairta to see Flossie showed how much she meant to him.

“Kaiden, are you trying to help Levy?” Ellie asked warily, her voice rising as if she would lose her temper if he dared say yes.

“No,” Kaiden mumbled meekly.

“Then call him immediately!”

“Mmm… okay,” Kaiden said hesitantly. He simply didn’t know how to talk to Levy about this. But he had no choice now. He would have to discuss how Levy should handle his relationship with Flossie.

Just then, Ellie got another call from Flossie.

“El, if Mr. Thorpe hasn’t called Levy yet, then there’s no need to bother him,” Flossie said over the phone.

“Why?” Ellie asked, puzzled.

“My parents are here. I have to go. Bye. Talk later,” Flossie said, and hurriedly hung up, as if something serious had just happened.

Ellie frowned, wondering what on earth was going on. Since Levy was right outside Flossie’s house and her parents had arrived, it was expected they would run into each other.

As soon as Flossie’s parents, Mekhi Yount and Yvonne Yount, entered the alley, one of their neighbors stopped them and said a handsome man had followed their daughter home and was now waiting outside. Hearing this, they immediately quickened their pace to see what was happening.

As expected, they found a tall, handsome young man in an elegant trench coat standing at their gate. He was exactly the type of man their daughter would like.

Mekhi and Yvonne exchanged a glance and went straight to knock on the door, acting as if they had not noticed the man.
