“It’s a good thing you’re cautious. You could have lost your baby, Miss Monroe.”
My lips parted in shock as I stared at the female doctor in front of me. She was holding a piece of paper and smiling. “Congratulations, Miss Monroe. You’re two months pregnant.”
My heart immediately began to race. I felt tears welling up at the corners of my eyes as I slowly accepted the pregnancy certificate from her. “Oh my God!” I whispered. Pierce would be overjoyed to hear this news.
He’s actually coming back home this afternoon after nearly a month of traveling for the sake of our family’s business. Pierce is the President of ADE, the leading fashion magazine company across Asia.
I, on the other hand, am the Vice President of the company. We’ve been working together for three years, ever since we got married.
I looked at the doctor again, smiling happily.
“Thank you so much, doctor.”
She wrote something on a piece of paper and handed it to me. “Here, these are vitamins you’ll need to stay healthy and ensure the health of your baby.”
I nodded, gently standing up. “Thank you again, doctor.”
Feeling elated, I left the hospital. When I reached the basement parking lot, I saw my personal driver standing beside the car, puffing on a cigarette.
I glanced at Luke through the rearview mirror. “What time is Pierce’s flight?”
He checked his wristwatch and looked back at me through the mirror. “He’ll arrive at 4 PM, ma’am. We should get there before he does.”
“Drive to the airport, Luke.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
I smiled, looking down at the pregnancy certificate in my hands.
I couldn’t wait to tell Pierce about our baby. I wondered what his reaction would be. Would he shout with happiness? Would he kiss me? God, I could hardly contain my excitement.
