Chapter 562:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
In the blink of an eye, Dayna materialized behind him and locked an arm around his throat, catching him completely off guard. Her gaze was cold and unhurried as she leaned in, her voice edged with quiet menace. “Were you looking for me?”
Startled, the man jerked in her grasp, frantically struggling to break free. Dayna didn’t give him the slightest opening. In one seamless motion, she drove her heel into the back of his knee, sending him sprawling onto the concrete with a strangled yelp.
She twisted his arms behind his back and immobilized him in a hold so efficient that not even seasoned mercenaries could wriggle out—let alone a clueless stalker. The entire sequence happened so quickly it was almost a blur, her movements precise and impossibly fast.
Nell rounded the corner with Henry, both of them stopping in their tracks. Nell’s eyes sparkled with adrenaline and surprise. “Dayna, I didn’t know you had moves like that! I couldn’t even see what you did—it was over before I blinked!”
Dayna’s lips curled into a playful grin. “One of these days, I’ll show you a few tricks. You’ll be able to handle yourself just fine.”
Nell bounced on her toes, grinning wide. “I’d love that!”
She had always been captivated by the lightning-fast strikes of action movie assassins, marveling at how they neutralized threats with flawless precision. Henry gazed up, eyes wide with wonder. “Who is this man?”
Dayna’s expression softened for Henry. “Just someone who’s up to no good.” She showed warmth toward Henry, but her stare hardened when she looked back at the man. Without hesitation, she drove her knee into his spine, pinning him to the concrete. “Talk. Who sent you?” she demanded.
The man howled, but even as pain twisted his features, he pressed his lips together and stubbornly shook his head. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. Let me go, or I’ll call the police on you right now!”
“You think we didn’t notice you tailing us and snapping pictures?” Nell’s lips curled in a smirk, her eyes brimming with scorn. “We’re not half as gullible as you imagine.”

Dayna lifted her gaze, eyes zeroing in on the camera still resting on the driver’s seat. “Grab his phone and the camera. We’ll see exactly who he’s been reporting to before we hand him over.”
Nell wasted no time, moving swiftly to carry out Dayna’s order.
Color drained from the man’s face as desperation crept into his voice. “I swear, I didn’t do anything illegal! I was only taking some pictures, that’s all.”
Dayna crouched beside him, her tone icy and unyielding. “Here’s your one shot. Tell us who’s behind this, and maybe I’ll let you walk.”
The man hesitated, nerves rattling, and then finally blurted, “Alright, I’ll talk! The person who hired me is—I”
