Chapter 989:

As she spoke, the tension slowly left Kole’s hands, and his fists relaxed. He forced the anger down, burying his desire for payback so he could focus on her. “Okay,” he promised, wrapping his arms around her. “I’ll take you away. Just hang in there a little longer while I get everything ready. As soon as the plan is set, I’m coming to get you.”
Carole nodded against him, a tiny spark of hope finally returning to her eyes. “I can do that.”
“Listen, I need to spend the next few days focused on the details of how we’re going to get out of here, so I won’t be able to sneak over and see you. If things get bad, just try to stay strong and wait for me. Promise me you won’t do anything to hurt yourself,” Kole said, his voice full of concern.
Carole managed a weak smile through her tears. “I promise. Just knowing that you’re on my side, and that you’re coming for me, is enough to keep me going. I’ll go back home and act like I’m going along with their plan so they don’t suspect anything. I can start secretly packing my jewelry and whatever cash I can find, so we have something to start with. We can go as far away as we need to, and I know we’ll make it work.”
She reached out and nervously tugged on his sleeve, looking up at him. “So, how long do I have to wait? When are you coming for me?”
Kole thought through everything he needed to handle before they could safely disappear. “Give me two weeks,” he replied. “Two weeks from tonight, meet me at our spot in the greenhouse, at ten o’clock. I’ll be waiting there for you.”
Carole gave a firm nod, her expression shifting as she began to imagine a future away from the nightmare. “Okay. It’s a deal. You better be there.”
Taking advantage of a brief opening, Kole slipped out of the hospital room as quietly as he had arrived.

He didn’t waste a single second. Every moment from that point on was dedicated to preparing for Carole and his escape. First, he walked away from his job without looking back. Then he navigated the risks of the underground market, spending a small fortune to secure two sets of fake IDs and passports. They were high-quality forgeries, good enough to pass any inspection.
To make sure the Davis family couldn’t track them, he spent hours obsessing over their destination, the travel routes, and where they would stay. He mapped out every detail of the escape day, knowing that even one small mistake could ruin everything. The hardest part was figuring out how to bypass the security cameras and the guards circling the property.
It was exhausting work that kept him on edge, but he never slowed down. The thought of finally being able to hold Carole’s hand in the sunlight, away from all this trauma, gave him a drive he had never felt before. He had their entire future abroad pictured in his mind. He was strong and willing to work any job, no matter how hard, to make sure Carole never had to struggle again. He wanted her to go back to school and finally chase her dream of becoming a jewelry designer.
