Chapter 992:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Her chains were heavy, too heavy for him to do anything about. He couldn’t give her a perfect solution, so he decided he would be the one to break those chains for her. He would take the guilt and the blame on himself.
“Alright,” he said, his voice raw.
For the first time, he let go of his restraint and kissed her with a passion he had only ever allowed himself to feel in his dreams. It was as if they both knew this might be the last time they would ever be this close, as if tomorrow would be the end of their world. Like cornered beasts, they poured all their fear and despair into each other. Chaos, pain, and pleasure all intertwined in a bold act of desperation, and neither of them resisted the whirlwind that overwhelmed them.
In the greenhouse, the flowers Kole had carefully planted for her were in full bloom, but they were soon crushed beneath the weight of their desperation, the petals ground into the floor, their scent mixing with the salt of their tears.
One time wasn’t enough. They were both acting out of a temporary madness. Carole’s eyes were bloodshot, and her nails dug into his back, leaving marks as she pulled him closer, begging him not to stop. Kole lost all control, whispering things he didn’t recognize as he tried to memorize every inch of her. They stayed like that for hours, as if they could spend a lifetime of love in a single night.
As the sky turned a soft lavender with the coming dawn, they finally lay still on the ground, breathless and exhausted. Through the glass roof, they could see that same lavender sky above them.
Carole placed a hand on her stomach. There was no pain, no cramping, no sign that anything had changed.
She let out a short, bitter laugh. “I guess fate isn’t on our side after all. This baby is tougher than I thought.” She accepted the loss of her gamble.

Carole sat up and began to get dressed, her movements mechanical and cold.
“It’s time for you to go, Kole,” she said, her back turned to him, her voice hauntingly calm now. “Go live your life. Find someone good and start a real family. From this moment on, I’m not your problem anymore. That’s the last order I’ll ever give you.”
Kole scrambled to his feet, throwing his clothes on and grabbing her arm. “Don’t go. I have one more thing to say.”
Carole looked at him with a gaze full of sorrow. “Kole, please. Don’t make this harder.”
Saying more would only bring them more pain. But Kole didn’t let go. He looked her straight in the eye. “What if I kidnap you?”
Carole froze, her eyes widening. “What?”
“You didn’t run away,” Kole said firmly. “You were taken against your will. I’ll take all the heat. Let your parents hate me, let the Knights come after me. To the rest of the world, you’re just an innocent victim of my selfishness.”
Carole stared at him, her walls finally crumbling. Fresh tears streamed down her face as she threw herself back into his arms, sobbing loudly. “Yes! Kole, please… kidnap me.”
