Chapter 993:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Carole had just finished speaking when the greenhouse door was thrown open without warning.
A group of bodyguards rushed in, quickly spreading out and sealing off the exit with an intimidating presence. Moments later, Carole’s parents stepped in behind them.
Jonah Davis, her father, took one look at the disheveled state the two of them were in, and his expression immediately darkened.
“Beat him,” Jonah ordered coldly, pointing straight at Kole. “Tie this asshole up and beat him to death.”
“Yes, sir!” the bodyguards responded at once. They moved in without hesitation, forcing Kole to the ground as fists and kicks rained down on him one after another.

“Stop, please, don’t hurt him!” Carole cried out, rushing forward and throwing herself over Kole to shield him.
Before she could reach him, two bodyguards grabbed her arms and dragged her back, holding her tightly no matter how hard she struggled.
Panicking, Carole turned toward Jonah and begged, “Dad, please let him go. I was the one who asked him to come. If anyone is at fault, it should be me.”
“Enough!” Jonah snapped, his eyes blazing with anger as he glared at her. “You shameless girl. Once I’m done dealing with him, I’ll deal with you next.”
The look on his face made Carole’s chest tighten. She could tell he wasn’t just making threats this time. He truly meant to kill Kole.
Acting on impulse, she leaned over and bit down hard on the wrist of the bodyguard restraining her. He flinched in pain, and in that brief moment, she twisted free. She grabbed a flower pot from a nearby shelf and slammed it hard against the ground. It shattered with a sharp crack, pieces scattering across the floor.
Without hesitation, Carole picked up the sharpest shard and pressed it firmly against her stomach.
“Don’t come any closer. Everyone stop right now,” she shouted, her voice shaking but loud enough to freeze the room.
The bodyguards paused, caught off guard by her sudden move, and instinctively turned to Jonah for instructions.
On the ground, Kole forced his swollen eyes open, blood streaking his face as he weakly murmured, “Don’t…”
Carole did not look at him. Her eyes stayed locked on Jonah, steady and unyielding.
“If you kill Kole today, I’ll die here too,” she said, her voice firm despite the tears on her face. “I’ll take this unborn bastard with me. You wanted me to marry into the Knight family, didn’t you? Then I’ll destroy that plan right here and now!”
Jonah’s chest rose and fell with rage, but he did not dare give another order.
“Carole, don’t do something so reckless,” Bria Davis, her mother, cried out, her face pale as tears streamed down. “Are you trying to destroy this family?”
Tears slid down Carole’s cheeks as well. “You’re the ones forcing me into this.”
She wiped her face quickly and steadied her breathing before continuing. “Let Kole go. If you let him leave safely, I’ll marry Mike right away. I’ll be the perfect wife, and I’ll keep this child.”
