“Hayley,” Jewell faltered, his voice wavering. “To be truthful, those two pills… They were stolen.”

“What?” Hayley’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Who would have done such a thing?”

“I have no idea. I kept them safe, and I have no clue when they disappeared,” Jewell said.

“So, someone maliciously took the pills to harm Shane and Yvonne!” Hayley’s voice was sharp as a knife.

Jewell’s anxiety spiked. “Hayley, you created those pills. Surely you can help Shane and Yvonne regain their memories, right?”

Hayley shook her head slowly, the weight of her words heavy. “When I originally developed the pills, I meant to create an antidote, but I was detained before I could.”

“So, there’s no way to restore their memories now?” Jewell’s heart sank. “This is all my fault. I asked for your pills for research, and I didn’t guard them carefully enough, leading to them being stolen!”

“There’s no point in saying something like that now,” Hayley replied, her tone resolute. “We need to alert Marc immediately and bolster our defenses!”

Upon hearing the unsettling news, Marc sprang into action, swiftly arranging for heightened security throughout the hospital.

Additionally, he ordered an investigation into the meals consumed by Shane and Yvonne the previous day.

Willie soon reported, “Mr. Fowler, I’ve looked into it. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks had breakfast at home yesterday, and there were no issues. Lunch was a work meal, prepared by the chef in a separate kitchen, under vigilant surveillance to prevent any tampering. So, it’s definitely safe.”

“Then that leaves us with dinner,” Marc said, furrowing his brow. “They had dinner at Landon’s place last night, but I can’t fathom why he would have any reason to harm them.”

Willie said, “Dining at Mr. Thomas’s place opened the door for tampering. It’s conceivable that Mr. Thomas himself could have been drugged too. I’ll have someone look into it.”

“Alright.”

Shane and Yvonne underwent a thorough medical examination, and thankfully, no major health concerns surfaced.

Perhaps due to sheer exhaustion, Yvonne drifted off to sleep immediately after the check-up.

Hayley looked at her and sighed heavily. “It’s ironic, isn’t it? When she wanted to forget, she didn’t touch the pills. And now, when she longs to remember, she has been forced to take the pills. Yvonne has had a life full of ups and downs, especially in her romantic life.”

Marc nodded in agreement. “Right. Shane had that accident, lost his memory, and returned with another woman. I was genuinely concerned about his relationship with Yvonne, but thankfully, Shane drew the line and set firm boundaries with Ms. Santos. Even though Shane didn’t remember Yvonne, their bond appeared to be rekindling. Just when I thought they were getting back on track, fate threw another curveball. It feels like they’re back at square one now.”
