Chapter 846:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
That evening, Marc paid Yvonne a brief visit but was swiftly called away by a phone call.
Jessa turned off the lights and settled onto the sofa near Yvonne’s bed to catch some sleep.
Yvonne, however, found sleep elusive. She tossed and turned for what felt like an eternity before finally throwing back the covers.
Feeling suffocated in the sterile hospital room, she decided to leave. As she opened the door to her room, ready to ask a nurse if there was a place for some fresh air, the door to the room next to hers swung open, revealing a tall, strikingly handsome man.
Their eyes locked, and time seemed to stand still.
Yvonne recognized the man instantly—he was the man from the photo, her husband.
Shane didn’t move, his deep, unreadable eyes locked onto hers. A wave of awkwardness washed over Yvonne.
She didn’t know whether to stay or leave.
After a moment of hesitation, she found her voice and managed a greeting. “Hello…”
Shane nodded slightly in response.
Seeing his cold and distant demeanor, Yvonne decided to leave. “I’ll be on my way.”
“Alright,” Shane said.
Yvonne turned and headed toward the elevator at the end of the hallway. At the elevator, a bodyguard stood at attention. He nodded politely at Yvonne and asked, “Mrs. Brooks, where are you planning to go?”
“I just want to buy something to drink,” Yvonne replied.
“I’ll accompany you,” the bodyguard said.

With the bodyguard in tow, Yvonne stepped out and bought a bottle of cola.
However, the bodyguard was quick to usher her back inside.
“Mrs. Brooks, it’s best to head back now.”
“But I want to get some fresh air,” Yvonne said.
“It’s not safe outside. How about we go to the rooftop garden instead?”
Yvonne didn’t press the point. “Alright, let’s go to the garden.”
The rooftop garden was a private area reserved for the people living on the VIP floor, ensuring absolute security.
Upon her arrival, Yvonne spotted a figure standing by the railing, smoking.
“Mrs. Brooks, that’s Mr. Brooks,” the bodyguard informed her.
Recalling Shane’s cold demeanor earlier, Yvonne turned and walked in the opposite direction without a second thought.
The bodyguard felt resigned but chose to remain silent. Hearing footsteps, Shane frowned slightly.
He had come to the garden seeking solace, only to be interrupted so soon. Displeased, he turned his head, but the annoyance in his chest eased slightly when he saw Yvonne.
Willie had told him that Yvonne was his wife, and that they shared a love that was supposed to be profound.
