Chapter 718:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
As Renee picked up, Barr’s worried voice immediately came through.
“Ms. Carter, I’ve found some information about the case you wanted me to look into!”
Renee responded promptly, “What have you found? Tell me!”
Barr explained, “Remember you asked me to check who could possibly tamper with those bottled waters? I’ve identified a few possible suspects.”
“How many are we looking at?”
“Three!”
Although investigating three people was challenging, Renee had confidence in Barr’s abilities.
“Be thorough in your investigation. Watch out for anyone acting suspicious; they might be working with others.”
“I understand, Ms. Carter. There’s something else.”
“What is it?”
“The team members are getting suspicious about the captain’s condition. They’re all sharp, so it’s tough to hide anything from them. They’re pushing me for details about what’s going on with the captain. Some of the team members still in Tofral are even organizing a meeting the day after tomorrow. They expect to either see the captain or hear an explanation from me!”
With Ryder’s current situation, the Night Wolf Special Forces could end up without a leader if anything happened to him. Worse yet, there were those eager to seize Ryder’s position at the first opportunity!
“Ms. Carter, what should we do now?”
Renee took a moment to think, then answered, “Let’s go ahead with the meeting.”

Barr asked nervously, “Is that a good idea? What about the captain?”
If Ryder showed up at the meeting, his condition would be immediately obvious the moment he started talking.
“Don’t worry. I’ll handle that.”
The call ended.
William handed Renee the apple he had just peeled and then moved on to do other chores, such as Renee’s laundry.
Renee glanced up at him, hesitated briefly, and then said, “William.”
“Yes?”
“I need to return to Tofral.”
William didn’t question her; he had heard her phone conversation and knew the stakes.
“Alright, I’ll arrange for your transfer back to the hospital in Tofral,” William said.
“Bring Ernest with us as well. I want to ensure he’s taken care of,” Renee added.
“Okay.”
They expedited the transfer procedures, and she was ready to leave by noon.
When Ryder arrived at the hospital, William was already packing up.
