Chapter 719:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Ryder gave a dismissive snort and made his way directly to Renee’s bedside. “You’re getting discharged already?”
“No, just transferring,” Renee replied, looking up at him. She noticed something amiss and studied him more intently.
Feeling guilty under her stare, Ryder averted his eyes.
Given his mental capacity, he struggled to hide even the smallest of his secrets from her. He looked like a child caught red-handed in mischief.
Renee couldn’t help but feel amused and decided to tease him a little. It was a rare sight to see Ryder this unguarded, and she knew that once he recovered his full memories, he’d return to his usual stern self—the cold, composed captain of the Night Wolf Special Forces.
“Where were you last night?” Renee suddenly asked.
“Nowhere… nowhere at all!” Ryder stuttered.
“You went out drinking, didn’t you?” Renee’s sharp senses didn’t miss a beat, even though he had taken a shower.
“Just a little!”
Renee drew out the word, eyeing him up and down. “You went out, had some drinks, and got up to no good!”
“No!” Ryder protested strongly.
Renee was entertained by his reaction.
She had only been speculating and testing her suspicions, but Ryder’s defensive reply revealed the truth.
His reaction was as entertaining as watching a child trying to deny they had stolen a cookie.

“Ugh, stop nagging! I’m not a kid anymore! As an adult, can’t I just live my life?” Ryder exclaimed, annoyed and embarrassed after being caught in the act. He figured he might as well be bold about it.
Renee chuckled and nodded. “Of course, live as you like. My only concern is that someone might fool you.”
Renee was genuinely concerned. Ryder, whose maturity level was akin to a fifteen-year-old’s, was vulnerable to manipulation.
“Who were you hanging out with last night? Do I know them?” she asked, curious.
“No, you don’t!” Ryder responded quickly, dismissing the question.
Renee found his reaction amusing. How could Ryder be so adorably clueless at fifteen? It was almost hard to imagine that this naive young man would eventually become the formidable leader of the Night Wolves. “You responded so fast. I must know them then,” Renee teased.
Ryder’s eyes grew wide with shock, his face reflecting pure innocence. Renee felt a stark sense of disconnection looking at him now.
“So who was it?” Renee pressed, eager for gossip.
Turning his head aside, Ryder felt his body tense with anger. He clearly didn’t want to engage with her.
Renee’s laughter grew louder and unrestrained, filling the hospital room. “Come on! Just tell me, and I promise it’ll stay between us!”
Ryder shot Renee a fierce look.
