Chapter 2138:

“And I won’t change,” Belinda said softly, leaning her head against Kenia’s shoulder.
Overcome with emotion, Kenia found herself unable to speak further.
After she had cried for so long, exhaustion took over. With Belinda helping her settle in, she gradually drifted into a deep sleep.
Belinda remained at her bedside, keeping watch.
Thankfully, Kenia rested without disturbance.
In the evening, Lucas returned home. Belinda called him into their bedroom.

“Why did you tell my grandmother about Sarai’s matter? Weren’t you concerned it might be too much for her?” she asked.
Lucas’ expression grew firm. “I could see how hard it was for you to find the right moment to tell her about it. I didn’t want you carrying that alone, so I stepped in. And don’t assume Kenia is fragile. She’s tougher than you give her credit for.”
He clasped Belinda’s hand and continued, “Look at her life. She raised Holley by herself. Then she raised you. She even chose to take in Sarai. She has always been the pillar of this family. A woman like that doesn’t crumble so easily.”
Belinda fell silent for a moment. She realized that he was right.
She had let her concern run wild, convincing herself that Kenia was too fragile to face reality.
“Try not to worry about her too much,” Lucas said as he gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face. “The matter will hurt her, but she’ll get through it. From now on, we’ll stay by her side and help distract her from all of this.”
Belinda gave a nod. “You’re right. She still has us. She isn’t facing this alone.”
“That’s right,” Lucas replied, drawing her into his arms.
After taking a short break, they headed downstairs for dinner.
Kenia had already woken up, though her eyes remained swollen and red. She joined them for the meal.
After a while, she turned toward Lucas. “Lucas, could I… go see Sarai one last time?”
Belinda paused mid-motion, her fork hovering in the air as she looked up with concern.
“Of course,” Lucas answered immediately.
He understood that Kenia needed closure.
“I’ll go with you,” Belinda said quickly.
Kenia shook her head. “No need for that, Belinda. I only want to talk to her alone for the last time.”
She managed a faint, strained smile. “I’ll be alright.”
“Okay.” Though reluctant, Belinda agreed.
After the meal, Lucas and Belinda escorted Kenia to the place where Sarai was being detained.
Kenia was the only one who stepped inside, while Belinda and Lucas stayed behind in the car.
The moment Kenia took in the chaotic state of the room and saw Sarai chained on the floor, her eyes reddened at once.
After all, Sarai had grown up under her care, so witnessing her in such a condition struck her deeply.
“Grandma…” Sarai had seemed drained of life, yet the instant she recognized Kenia, a spark returned to her gaze.
