Chapter 486:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“No, it’s fine. I do know them,” Darya forced a smile.
She walked up to Micah, who sat slumped against a tree.
“Micah, move it!” Darya prodded his leg with her foot, causing him to topple sideways onto the grass.
“Da-Darya…” Micah mumbled incoherently.
Darya regarded him with indifference. Was he genuinely drunk?
“Get up. Go home and sleep it off. Don’t act like a drunken fool outside my house.”
Even though she didn’t want to waste any more time on Micah, Darya couldn’t help but notice his pitiful state.
Struggling to stand, Micah sat back down, his head raised as he gazed at Darya under the moonlight.
His eyes were bloodshot, and his cheeks flushed.
He seemed utterly dispirited.
“Da… Darya, it’s really you… I’m… I’m sorry. I won’t make you angry again, okay?” Micah’s words were laced with pain, tears welling up in the corners of his eyes. “Give me another chance. I’ll cherish you. I won’t ever forget you…”
His words echoed through the night, filled with a mix of desperation and sincerity.
Darya’s heart tugged when she saw Micah in such a state, but she quickly regained her composure.
Deep down, she knew that despite her claims of moving on and not caring, she had loved him deeply for three years. How could she forget it all so easily?
Micah was like a persistent itch, a constant reminder of the past whenever he appeared before her.
And now, his broken state mirrored her own past pain.
Darya had often wished she hadn’t fallen in love with him, regretting every moment that led her to save him in Bellemore, fall for him after the banquet, and sacrifice her true identity to marry into the Cavanaugh family.

But fate had its own plans, connecting them with an invisible thread that seemed unbreakable.
No matter how hard Darya tried to sever that connection, it persisted.
Taking a deep breath, Darya glanced at the hardly conscious Micah.
The stench of alcohol tickled her nose.
She couldn’t help but feel responsible for the sorry state of the formidable Zenith president.
This was a power she alone seemed to possess.
