Chapter 502:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Jack pouted, his lips quivering. “My dad doesn’t care about me. It’s okay.”
Darya couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness as she listened to Jack’s words. From his ruddy cheeks and tailored clothes, she could tell he came from a wealthy family. Perhaps his father was preoccupied with work and had little time for Jack’s well-being.
Just then, a group of black-suited men walked into the fried chicken joint, their eyes scanning the surroundings as if searching for someone.
Darya’s instincts kicked in, and her guard went up after her recent encounter with mercenaries. She observed the men closely, ready to spring into action.
The leader of the group spotted Darya and approached her. Before she could make her escape with Jack, the three men suddenly halted and bowed respectfully.
“Hello, Miss. We’re here to retrieve the young master. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
Darya was taken aback, her gaze shifting to Jack, who now wore a stoic expression on his face.
“Young master, your father has been searching for you for a long time. Come home with us,” the lead man said, reaching out to hold Jack’s hand, only to have it forcefully shaken off.
“I don’t want to! I want to stay with pretty sister!” Jack protested, his mood shifting as he clung to Darya’s side. In her presence, he seemed like an entirely different person. The man looked awkwardly at Jack. “Young master, if you don’t return now, the boss will be angry.”
Jack hesitated, torn between his loyalty to his newfound sister figure and the consequences he might face if he defied his father’s wishes.
Darya crouched down, gently pinching his adorable cheeks. “Jack, are they sent by your family? If they are, you should go with them. Your father’s probably worried sick.”
“Don’t you want me anymore?” Jack asked, his voice tinged with anxiety.

Darya shook her head softly, a gentle smile on her lips. “How could I not want you? You’re the cutest! I care about you more than anything.”
The lead man seized the opportunity to speak up. “Young master, if you don’t return now, this lady here might have to face the consequences. You know what your father will think if…”
As expected, Jack grew anxious upon hearing this, rushing to the man’s side. “Okay, I’ll go back with you. Just tell him not to be angry with her!”
With a heavy heart, Jack obediently took the man’s hand, stealing one last reluctant glance at Darya. “I’ll go home for now. But I’ll come and find you later, okay?”
Darya agreed, her voice warm. “Sure, just be a good boy when you go home. We’ll see each other again.”
