Chapter 1451:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Collin and the woman seemed close?
The thought ran through Linsey’s mind, but she kept her poise, standing quietly off to the side with no desire to cut into their exchange.
Eventually, the woman’s eyes landed on her, and she asked, “Collin, who is the lady with you?”
Collin shifted his gaze toward Linsey, debating how to present whatever they were to each other.
Just a friend?
Calling her a friend didn’t feel like enough.
Something more?
She had never rejected him, though their closeness had already crossed lines that made friendship alone impossible.
Before he could speak, Linsey stepped forward, a professional smile in place as she extended her hand. “Nice to meet you. I’m Linsey Brooks. I work for Mr. Riley.”
So, an assistant.
A hint of surprise flickered across the woman’s face, and whatever initial tension she had felt melted away.
“It’s nice to meet you, Ms. Brooks,” she replied, shaking hands with Linsey with a polished, practiced smile.
She released Linsey’s hand almost at once, turned her attention back to Collin, and said, “Come with me, please.”
Collin gave a short grunt of agreement.
As they followed behind, he suddenly leaned toward Linsey and asked, “Don’t you have something you want to ask me?”
Caught off guard, Linsey frowned. “What kind of question?”

A slow grin spread across Collin’s face as he teased, “Come on, Linsey. Aren’t you even the slightest bit curious about my connection with her?”
Linsey dragged her feet across the path, kicking at small pebbles, until his words reached her ears.
Her foot stilled, and she cast her eyes downward. “Why would I be curious?” she countered softly.
“I figured you’d be curious,” Collin replied, his voice steady. “When I was talking to her just now, I happened to glance at you. You didn’t look too pleased. Almost like…”
His words trailed off on purpose, leaving the rest hanging.
As expected, Linsey took the bait, asking, “Seemed like what?”
“Seemed like you were jealous,” he replied in a flat, unbothered tone.
Linsey’s eyes widened, and she rushed to deny it. “That’s not true.”
They were only connected through work. Nothing romantic tied them together. What reason could she possibly have to feel jealous?
In her own mind, she swore she would never allow herself to feel that way about him.
