Chapter 433:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“It does,” I agreed. “The world is finally starting to trust that we aren’t looking for a new empire or a seat of dominance. We’re looking for a new way to exist. A way where the forest and the pack can thrive without needing to tear the other apart.”
She pulled back, looking up at me with that signature, defiant spark. “Does that mean we have some time to ourselves? Or is there another emergency waiting for us at the gate?”
I laughed, a sound that came from deep in my chest. “No emergencies. Just the sunset, the waterfall, and a quiet house. For once, the world is holding its breath while we catch ours. We earned this.”
We left the library and walked out into the cool, refreshing evening air. The forest was vibrant, humming with the quiet, industrious energy of a world at peace. We made our way to the overlook, watching the sky burn with spectacular hues of violet, gold, and deep, bruised crimson.
“Do you ever think about the future?” she asked, her voice soft, almost dreamy. “Not the pack, not the Grove, not the treaties. Just… us.”
I turned her toward me, placing my hands on her waist. “I think about it every single day. I think about a life where we don’t have to be symbols. I think about building that home near the falls, about watching the seasons change, and about the fact that no matter how long we live, no matter how much the world changes, we’re the only thing that stays the same. We are the constants.”
She smiled, a slow, beautiful expression that made the very air seem to settle. “That sounds like a good life, Alpha.”
“It’s the only life I want,” I vowed.
I leaned down and kissed her, a deep, lingering promise of all the days to come. The wind rustled the leaves of the great trees, the forest’s own way of acknowledging the vow. We had broken the old, cruel world, and in its place, we had grown a garden. And as I held her there, beneath the gathering stars, I knew that no matter what tomorrow brought, we were ready to meet it.
The Forest Witch and her Alpha. Not just survivors, but the architects of a new dawn. We were the beginning of everything.

The peace that had settled over our territory was not a static, inert thing. It was deeply, vibrantly alive, vibrating with the very same elemental energy that fueled the Living Seal in the heart of the Grove. It was a peace that required constant attention, a sprawling garden that needed the steady, patient work of tending, and for the first time in my existence, I didn’t find the labor exhausting or beneath me. It felt as natural and vital as breathing.
