Chapter 611:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
The man on her right glanced at her, his eyes cold and empty. “Shut your mouth, Miss Frye. Unless you want something to happen to you and the baby.”
The raw threat confirmed her worst fears. She drew a deep, shaky breath, pushing down the panic, and let her eyes dart around the vehicle’s interior in search of any chance of escape.
Outside, the other SUV was relentless, trying again and again to pull alongside them, only to be cut off by their driver’s dangerously aggressive maneuvers.
Amelia’s gaze fell on the dashboard. A black smartphone sat in a cradle beside the steering wheel, its screen lit up with a navigation map.
The destination wasn’t an airport. It was a pin dropped in the middle of a deserted industrial park on the outskirts of the city.
A chill colder than the storm outside washed over her. If they took her there, she would die. Her baby would die.
The pain in her abdomen was getting worse. More frequent. Sharper. This wasn’t just stress anymore. These were the first real signs of labor.
She couldn’t wait.

She clutched her stomach, let out a pained groan, and curled her body into a ball.
“My… my stomach… it hurts so much…” she gasped, her voice a convincing mix of pain and panic. Cold sweat beaded on her forehead.
The two men exchanged an uneasy look. This wasn’t part of their plan.
“Stop playing games,” one of them snapped.
Amelia’s breath hitched in a ragged sob. Her face was a deathly white. “It’s real… my water… I think my water broke…”
She squeezed her muscles, forcing out a small amount of fluid to dampen the fabric of her dress.
Seeing the dark patch spread across her skirt, the men finally began to panic. Their orders were to deliver her alive. If she and the baby died on the way, they would have failed.
The driver glanced in the rearview mirror, cursing under his breath. “Damn it! What do we do?”
This was her chance.
“Take me to a hospital,” Amelia said, her voice weak but clear. “Brighton General Hospital… now! Or we’ll all die!”
She had chosen the hospital deliberately. It belonged to the Thornton family. It was her only hope of salvation.
One of the kidnappers hesitated, then pulled out a satellite phone and reported the situation to his superior.
A cold, electronically distorted voice crackled over the line. “Do as she says. Get her to the hospital, but make sure she stays under our control.”
With new orders, the driver wrenched the wheel and changed direction, heading toward Brighton General.
The SUV behind them noticed the change in route and stayed in close pursuit.
Amelia allowed herself a small, hidden sigh of relief, though she knew the danger was far from over. The hospital was only a stalling tactic.
She leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes, feigning exhaustion from the pain. In reality, she was conserving her strength, her mind racing as she planned her next move.
She could feel the kidnappers’ vigilance ease slightly. Their focus had shifted from abduction to damage control.
